I know there is a Daily Punt thread but a thread just to discuss the major Spring carnival is needed i think.

I really liked the way Linton came back on the weekend. Settled near last, travelled into it on the bridle then let down nicely in the straight. Looks a good Caulfield Cup hope at 31s

Looking forward to seeing Molto Bene out to 1400m at Caulfield on Saturday. Promising SA filly who didn't get much galloping room first-up down the straight, should improve over the extra ground.

Genuine Thousand Guineas threat imo.

I'll also be smashing Manighar in every race he contests for the remainder of the spring.

Sincero for mine for the Cox Plate.

Form has been franked with Happy Trails on the weekend.

Sincero for mine for the Cox Plate.

Does a first up win over 1400m and a Happy Trails win over a mile (arguably his pet distance) frank Sincero's form over 2000m?

Cox Plate looks a lottery to me this year (bit like last year) and I think I'm more than happy to sit back and see how the odds line up on the day.

For a farical long range double I am going to try and take Zurella Naturalism-Caulfield Cup if she lines up this Saturday.

Southern Speed at 21s for the Caulfield Cup looks very good at this stage too, has come back in great form and you would think connections would go to the CC

I think if you look at the race in isolation, absolutely. Sincero put lengths on Happy Trails when they were level at the 200m. Plus Sincero showed it was comfortable up on speed, which is where you'll need to be on Cox Plate Day as the rail will be out +2 or +3.

Don't think Rekindled Interest has dome much wrong in his two runs this time in, will be hitting his straps at Mooney Valley.

I don't think his racing style makes him a friendly option. 3 from 18 is enough for me to risk him.

Yeah, RI's run on the weekend was only average, and that's on a track he has a fairly decent record on. I was looking for more than that.

He was second up and we all know what race they're targeting so wouldn't want to see him fully wound up yet.
I admit he didn't produce anything special on Saturday but at the same time showed enough progress to keep me very interested.

Agree with Manighar, different horse since moody took over, main target cox plate? I also like commanding jewl for the thousand guineas. Also it's hard to go past Americain, last on the turn and ran 4th right? Knows how to win. That and whatever wins the Geelong cup I'll have a crack for the big 1.

What's the go with green moon? Caufield cup? Or the cox?

As a side note, I'll back spirit/temple of boom in each sprint. Big fan of them.

Anyone got any tips in the Underwood or Thousand Guineas?

Anyone got any tips in the Underwood or Thousand Guineas?

In the Guineas Prelude tomorrow I'm pretty strong on Molto Bene and Spitfire Lady. Spitfire Lady is a really nice progressive type who was very impressive winning her maiden at Seymour. Molto Bene looked very good when she won the G3 Sires over 1400m last preparation. Gets out to 1400m again now and was crowded for room first-up at Flemington. Commanding Jewel is a drifting favourite and rightfully so in my opinion.

Also like Road Trippin in R2 at Caulfield at a nice price.

Manighar just wins the Underwood for mine.

In the 1000 Guineas prelude I actually like Dazzler at good EW odds. Her two wins last prep were very impressive and I think you can always forgive a horse for a failed effort up the straight at Flemington. Agree with Shark that CJ is under the odds - was not as impressed by others with her latest win.

Definitely with you on Dazzler. Boss on is also a major pass. Great e/w ticket in an open affair.

Manighar is too short currently. Should be about $3.50 in my book. 2nd up run last prep was pretty flat, so I'll risk him at the current $2.50. I like Sincero. $6 is a spoil.

You're right. I'd have Love for Ransom as Guineas faveourite at the moment. If CJ wasn't related to Atlantic Jewel, I reckon she'd be paying at least 2 points more.

I think Sincero is a big query on the jump to 1800m, but I should clarify that I have never really been a fan of him at distances above a mile.

I think Manighar is an entirely changed animal since moving to Moody and has the potential to go undefeated from here this Spring if placed correctly (have him in a few Caulfield Cups doubles). I thought there was an outside chance he would open in the red.

Have taken a multi with Manighar this weekend at $2.50 into Pierro for the caulfield guiniess at 2.90 into Manighar cox plate $8. Think Manighar just wins this weekend and will start the cox plate favourite

Moody has said himself he's aware of the potential flat run 2nd up. Same as last prep when Moody had him. Manighar could just very well be too good, but he'll be a saver option.

Aware of the doubt on Sincero, but that Memsie run was super. Like Michael Walker on (would still prefer Rodd) but he'll be aggressive, which is what will be needed.

Can anyone find me video footage of destructions (R2 Syd) last start?

Or alternatively direct me to a site where you can few old races (dont mind signing up - but i'd prefer not to pay!)

My Tips for MELB and SYD tomorrow:

MELB
R1: Chivvy $6.00
R2: Bradman $41.00
R3: Planet Voyage $4.40
R4: Kulgrinda $4.00
R5: Instinction $13.00
R6: Molto Bene $6.50
R7: Manighar $2.40
R8 Exceptionally $11.00
R9: Alberton Park $12.00

SYD
R1: Ninth Legion $3.00
R2: Ichihara $5.50
R3: High On Believing $4.00
R4: Jade Marauder $4.60
R5: Speediness $5.00
R6: Secret Admirer $3.80
R7: Lamasery $2.80
R8: Pampelonne $8.00

Will have a large multi involving Manighar and Lamasery. Can't see these two being beaten. Wish I got the opening odds for this multi.

I agree. If I had to give a tip, I'd probably go Manighar, but I think the odds difference between him and Sincero is too large.

I've layed Zurella the other night at $5.60, I think that is unders. Will (hopefully) offset most of that tomorrow, hoping she drifts out.

Lamasery is my best of the day - been waiting for exactly this race for him.

Also keen on Secret Admirer. Pretty sure the 1x2.5 each-way will be fine for her to run top 3. Haven't seen Shoot Out trial, but can imagine him needing the run.

Sneaky little bet on Showmya Miss in the 1000 Guineas Prelude, too. Liked her last run.
