Neither were Bell, Moloney, Holland, Smith or Ward.

Dissapointed Neitz and White are playing. They should have been rested for the pre-season. Also not happy Smith wasn't picked since he apparently isn't injured.

Agree with you there, Daniher 'promised' they wouldn't play during the NAB Cup  .

Liking how Bruce is getting a rest we need either holland or Neitzz in to take Mal Micheal out.

Matty Bate or a young good player on Aker and the game is ours.

We will win on paper we have the much better sqaud.

Why not try Alistair Nicholson up forward ? He has the bulk to test anyone let alone Mal Micheal. Saw him in the ruck once in about 2002 and he smashed the ball from the centre bounce 30 metres.

Any thoughts ?

You obviously didnt see him ruck last year against the Doggies in Rd.2, he was cheered off the ground at one stage.

Funny you should mention that but yeah your right gotta use his size and bulk and former hockey alerness to grasp a spot in our best 22 or ni ni Jack.

Don't mean to sound harsh but I have been waiting very patiently

Curious on Pickett fellas. Didnt see or hear anything about last weeks game or any other Melbourne news. Whats the go?

Kicked a goal with his first kick in a demon jumper early in the 2nd quarter. Was quiet really for the most part of the first half then did some really good things in the last quarter when the game was really close. Looks like he is still playing his aggressive style of game, what was great was in the last quarter there was a couple of times he grabbed it and nobody went at him which i found quite funny! :)

IMO melbourne looks better on paper but Expect a lot of the Lions young guns to stand up again and bring it home for us.

The Irish rookie will get his first run of the game tonight also.

My tips; Lions to win by 23 points:thumbsu:

I'll be at the game tonight also....will anyone from here be there??

Hope you guys don't mind a Lion sticking his nose into your forum.

You don't beat Michael with a Neitz or Holland. Michael chews up large defenders, Fraser Gehrig does everything in his power to stay away from Michael. What you need is an ultra quick tall, as Michael isn't massively quick over the first 5 yards, to take marks on the lead, or a key forward with lots of endurance to run him ragged and keep him out of the goal square.

BTW please take it easy on young Begley, the kid has played all of an intra club match in his football career and has been thrown in the deep end. He throws himself into packs with abandon and has absolutely no fear, it could get ugly!;)

Get out!

nah kidding, good to get perspective as OneEyed-Pride can fog the mind. I don't mind if Neitz is given a run by Michael, as Michael can be drawn away from the play. I would have like to see Nick Smith get a run as another tall and we could see what he is made of (hopefully not Tin!)

Begley is goin down!!! :)

I think its good that Neitz and White and all are playing they need a game or 2 before the season starts so why not play them now.

I also think its very good that the Senior players are getting a game before teh actual season. (Pity they will only get one because you guys will be out of the NAB comp as of tomorro:p )

nah in all seriousness I do Believe that melbourne are a very big chance to win tonight if they get their midfeild up and Firing this game Earlier rather than Later Fellas:thumbsu:

I wonder who we will play On Robo, He will be a big big big factor of this game tonight

i was going... but yeah obviously im not.. im sick as a dog :(

go demons :)

lets win this game tonite...

I don't see a problem with playing White and Neitz tonight. I think against a young Lions squad it's a good chance for them to find some form and gain a bit of confidence.
Looking forward to seeing if Bate can back up last week's performance.
Shannon Motlop interests me. Do you blokes think he could earn a regular midfield spot now he has a full pre-season under his belt?
I love his style. I think he'd be good in a rotation.

Despite some obvious fitness issues last season, he'd won me over by the end of last season. He did a sterling job at Centre Half Forward while Robbo was filling in in for Neeta at the end of 05. More versatile that I had first thought & one to watch this season for sure.
