dogs went 12-0 saints went 7-5 vs clubs below them in 25,both went 2-9 vs top 8,thats one very attainable area of improvement

despite wins against garbage and honourable defeats vs freo in perth, hawks pies swans,2 of which we were better than all day(freo and swans)at the end of season,if we play that same brand of football(refusing to kick for goal when inside 50)we will get nowhere but 12th,because even that bad we will be hard pressed losing to the 7 below us

hopefully marshall king sharman ryan can straighten us up,game plan should be pretty simple,i would add one thing,if your within range ping for goal ffs,got guys within 40 in the clear kicking to one on ones all the time, perfect game plan for tanking, not winning & we couldnt even tank right, because we won most of those games by a goal

The deals are done, which means room was available.

They seem to have spread well across the group, will likely make more space to have another tilt at recruiting more big names this time next year

Saints aren’t really topping up, just bringing in some stablished talent to get into the window.

There’s a feeling the 2025 season result was an unlucky down year, goal is top 4 in 2026

Can't see them beating Brisbane when it matters.

Hawthorn will likely be better next year too.

Freo and the suns are also likely to be better.

And surely if Adelaide can finish high up again is imagine they'd be better prepared and perform better in the finals.

Honestly I can't see the pies winning it

They are looking at a top 4 spot.

Bringing in they quality they have this off season makes them a contender
We've got a long way to go to be anywhere near top 4 I reckon.
We need to get existing players on the park, put more games into kids, find new ways to score... it goes on. I worry about team cohesion as well.
When you're watching the prelim teams you get to see how far off it you are.
But we've got a bit going for us at the minute.

Collingwood's 2026 season will be defined by how many of our young guys are ready to step up and be regular best 22 players.

Allen
Parker
Steele
DeMattia
West
Hayes
Harrison
Jiath
Steene
Ryan

Three of these players take the step and we're top 4 bound again.
That’s not a hugely inspiring list. They just haven’t been given the opportunity is an argument you could make. But none have shown too much TBH.
I think the issue will also be the reliance on the older players Pendles Sidebottom Howe etc. can they continue to play good footy for a whole season?

My point is the emergence of players who are yet to have had an opportunity lessens the load on Pendles, Sidey and Howe.

If we're relying on those 3 to play 20 plus games in 2026, we won't be near contending for a flag. We need to be winning without a major reliance on them.
