When the media is saying Scott is about to be sacked and 12 months earlier he was given till 2027 so this drop off in 2026 could happen, sadly it does need to be said in public. Because the media dont remember things when it isn't inline with their headlines.
think you will find this is the exact reason why Scott was extended a year. To not only push the media away but to show confidence in Brad and by extension the list is actually on the right path. Solidarity is such an under rated element

We’ll see.

Heard it all before after the Gumbleton, Jetta, Hislop, Davey, Houli etc draft. Then after Parish and Francis. Then after the 3 x Ss came in. Getting the No. 1 pick in McGrath. Then after the Perkins, Cox, Reid draft.

So excuse us if we retain a healthy dose of scepticism that Essendon are indeed now apparently on the right path.
this is why no sane and rationale Essendon supporter is using anything the club says. We've been gaslit for years. As the below says
this mind set is all well and good

but sooner or later the talk needs to translate to action & results.

Coach to win a premiership at a club after coaching a team previously, and also coached one of the previous teams to a flag:

Mick Malthouse, Collingwood 2010 (West Coast)
Leigh Matthews, Brisbane 2003 (Collingwood)
David Parkin, Carlton 1995 (Hawthorn)
Allan Jeans, Hawthorn 1989 (St Kilda)
Ron Barass, North Melbourne 1977 (Carlton)
Percy Bentley, 1947 Carlton (Richmond)
Checker Hushes, Melbourne 1948 (Richmond)
John Worrall, Essendon 1912 (Carlton)

Coach to win a premiership at a club after coaching a team previously, and he hasn't coached the previous team to a flag:

Robert Walls, Carlton 1987 (Previous Team Fitzroy)
Malcolm Blight, Adelaide 1998 (Geelong)
Norm Smith , Melbourne 1964 (Fitzroy)
Broghton Diggins, Carlton 1938 (South Melbourne)
Victor Belcher, Fitzroy 1922 (South Melbourne)
Norman Clark, Carlton 1915 (Carlton)

When you look at this, whenever you get a coach with previous experience the odds of them converting a premiership is very low, Brad Scott is up against it statistics wise.

this is not lost on any Essendon supporter mate, in fact, most would agree

truth be told, Scott has had the back to get rid of Dodoro and Sheedy's parroting of Hird. It's been a net win even if on field has not improved

I love death riding Essendon and they’re horrible at the moment….however I think they have a gun in Robey. Caddy is also a jet. Build around these guys an they’ll emerge soon enough.

If Essendons young list starts showing some promise there will be a heap of free agents keen to get there to take the club to the long awaited promise land. Drought, Anzac Day, Dreamtime….recruiter has an easy job if they can just turn the corner.

It’s always darkest before dawn. The footy world are reactionary and tend not to see what’s coming. Essendon have drafted well for 3 drafts in a row. They will have a strong hand in the 2026 drafts and likely in 2027. Then it all comes down to development and high performance delivering on their potential. The trades and FA’s will come in 2028>.

Caddy, Robey, Sharp, Roberts and Farrow look high class. Kako, Clarke, Johnson have all show excellent traits and with development hold promise. May has also progressed well this year. They still have Hayes who they hold highly. That’s a solid base to keep building on.

It looks bad right now but in 50 games it could look much more promising.
