If anything, the laat 20 years prove that the competition is just fine with Essendon and Carlton being mid table or worse.

Record crowds. Record revenue. Record ratings.

That said; The comp.is just more fun when the big clubs feel BIG.

Essendon fans used to walk into games with a "Were gonna win this" attitude, regardless of ladder position. Even as an opposition fan, I miss that swagger.

Mitchell has been part of successful programs.. The hodge and Birchall role at Brisbane.. You need experienced talent to guide the kids. Who's guiding at Essendon? They haven't won a final since 2004.

I’m well aware of the finals record.

Leaders have to deserve to get picked every week otherwise what’s the point.

Your just teaching the kids popularity with management is more important then performance if that’s not the case.

The club bought in Fiorini from Gold Coast because that’s the only player they could get who resembled that. Also tried for Jack Steele.

gotta hope better health and selection pressure keeps pushing the list forward to the point where a useful veteran or two might be interested.

I dont hold any ill will toward the Bombers, part of the big 4 and a bit like us, if anything less arrogant than Pies and Blues, and the least feral of the Big Vics.

There's a psycho group at the top wrecking the joint, centred around Sheedy. Hes brought that cruel Richmond streak which at its best means they win ruthlessly, but at its worst means they rip and tear their own.

Carlton are in their worst era since the late 40s-early 60s drought, but they still taste finals every few years: theres infighting and patchy recruiting but there's been clear upswings as well: they're doing something.

This low from Essendon is dirtier and darker. Dodoros recruiting makes Silvagni look brilliant. Both have trashed coaches but Essendon have reached new lows with the Rutten circus, and somehow Hird remains in play, against all reason.

Carlton had a president wave his bollocks around on a global scale and have fellas walking out of the club or getting yeeted for [redacted] yet somehow they are better led and more stable than Essendon.

Solomon coaching? Sheedy pulling strings? Hird circling? Insanity.

Every club has cringe moments. We've had two (2) major racism incidents at my club in 30 years, the Malthouse-Buckley succession deal and the 2020-2022 Fire Sale (still paying Grundy BTW).

You can beat this, if you can make yourself heard.

If Hird gets in it might even go ok, you never know, but i admit it's not likely. Your club is strong, this won't kill it.

Essen best 23 is nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be. Lot of intercept options in the backline, dangerous frwd line talent, maybe a little thin in the middle but Fiorini will add a bit of ball winning and inside fifty drive they need. Problem is , other than injuries is their coach. Toiling away for years in the system, lot of tough talk but no result.

Would rather be terrible. Pushing mid table with the current list would be a stupid long term decision
