Rounds runs 2.84 over 20m he is quicker then Judd and both the Daveys for who run it in 2.89 over 20m.
Where did you get your information from?

Alwyn Davey has been known to take 2.75 secs to run from 0-20 metres.

Who cares if he's slow, Greg Williams wasn't fast ! Sidebottom will be a star.

Yep and he doesn't seem to be any slower then most the players out there, he has no problems running players down (just got to look at the multiple chases over the last 2 weeks) or making space for himself.

Word around the time of the DC he took it half hearted so his sprint times could be off.

Rusty was great on the weekend, I'm happy he was finally in a winning side.

Also I loved how he couldn't get that grin off his face.

P.S.

I'd take a player with average leg speed and great footskills (Sidebottom) over a quick player who chops every possession (Barham)... any day of the week.

Remember fellas this was a couple of days after winning a grandfinal, which was well celebrated;). whereas other kids had had 4 weeks off with no finals to be completely fresh at dc

I think he was talking about the good davey.
He was clearly talking about both Davey's...

... he must've edited his post (which he did).

He is a strange looking character. Very different mug on him thats for sure.

Oh well, we'll get used to it. :thumbsu:

Rumour has it that Matthew Knights wanted him at pick 5 instead of Hurley. Knights said he has Jimmy Bartel written all over him.
More of a Haselby IMO.

Will run behind everyone at training like a little lap dog, just put put putting along - but can do it all day, everyday.

And like Haselby, who cares how slow you are when you are a one grab player with good hands, and winning all your touches with two guys hanging off you?

That's how I see Sidebottom.

steele's been great for us. his second and third efforts are always there and he's a ball magnet. seems to always be near the top of contested possessions stats aswell.

they shoud give him a few more games before pushing him back to the vfl. there have been far worse players the last few weeks

Might not have pace, but he certainly isn't lacking in composure when he has the footy. Only ealry days, but he seems to be able to think his way through a situation quickly and finds a good option most of the time - as mentioned earlier his foot skills are nooiicce. Plenty to like about the lad, particularly the way he was tearing into "Good old Collingwood Forever" after the game:thumbsu:

The pace issue has been very over stated. Doesn't have Wellingham level dash but certainly not slow. Some of his chasing has been absolutely sensational and he can certainly motor when he gets a head of steam.

Well, you cited Marc Murphy as being a similar pace to Rusty, but Murphy would break the 3 sec barrier and Cotchin would be quicker still. Sidebottom is just plain slow, however you wish to view your glass.

That may be the case RS but how would all these players compare for time to run the 2nd 20 meters of a 100 meter dash. I get the impression that the kid isn't actually quick off the mark but he moves ok once motoring.

He proved last night why he is in the side!
Fantastic and exciting to watch!

Is it just me, or does this kid seem to never make a mistake.

I would love to see his efficiency rate over the 4 games he has played, he just seems to have the uncanny ability to hit the target every time.

And is great that he is now kicking a goal or two a game, love hearing Rusty screamed by Collingwood supporters, and is great to actually enjoy a player wearing 22 again.

Watched him against the Power and while he didn't get the ball alot, I don't think he was on for very long seemed to always hit a target. Will be a vital player for you when he starts playing 80% OTG because his disposal could cut a team to shreds. Him and Didak delivery to Anthony could be a pretty dangerous combination.

Sidebottom has impressed so far from limited time, he will be a gun there is no question. Has top notch skills, good footy brain and a bit of x-factor about him. Comparison's to Bartel are not far off. :thumbsu:

So long as he keeps progressing nicely, he will be a midfield genius in 3 yrs time. I really believe that. Pace is irrelevant in today's football. No one in the Geelong midfield is overly quick and yet they move the football at lightning speed.

Ball movement > leg speed.

Ablett, Selwood and Bartel can all move but none are very quick and yet they obliterated a quick team in Essendon on the weekend.

I don't want Sidebottom to be quick. I want him to retain the attributes he has. Besides, we already have Wellingham, Davis and Thomas who are capable line breakers, don't need anymore.

I think his disposal and decision making is fantastic but i'm abit concerned about his pace. YOUR thoughts ppl am i the only one with this concern

Pendles is not very quick too , but......

How many times have you seen him tackled?

Pace is only 1 attribute. He doesn't have it, but there are many more important things than pace. Namely a brain and disposal skills.

He is first class in both of those.

Scott West never had pace.

Why are you guys arguing over his pace? Sure its important but his endurance is awesome kicking skills awesome. Tackles heaps
Complete player Gun

occasionally you watch a young player who looks like he immediately belongs at afl level - sidebottom is one of those.

Every player slows down when they get tired - Sidebottom is so fit that he doesn't slow down, which means that relative to his opponents, as games and individual quarters go on, he gets quicker.

This is much the same as with Marty Clarke, and how it was with Paul Licuria.
