Look, it's great you guys got something out of this, probably better than nothing, hey?
Oh well, now you can go away:)

We haven't got anything out of it. Personally, I thought he would get off. Baker being suspended does absolutely nothing for the Freo football club, which is the reason I have been saying that we had no reason to lie. All this talk about how Farmer was lying, and the official was biased, is all a smokescreen. Whether you like it or not, an independent tribunal found him guilty of the charge of rough conduct on his own evidence.

Just so that I've got this right in my smokescreened head. An AFL investigation (which was called by the AFL because Farmer left the ground with a blood nose and concussion which occurred when the ball was 50 metres away, and not called by FFC) asked the witness (who presumably was named by Christie Malthouse - as she brought it up on the telecast) what he saw. And this witness told what he saw to the investigator.

What you appear to be suggesting is that what this witness should have said was that he saw nothing at all. So you are suggesting that he should have lied to the AFL investigator? Or are you suggesting that he did actually lie, in that he did in fact see nothing but made his story up? And I'm wondering what the purpose would be for this lie. Just to give you guys the sh1ts?

Re: What a Joke!

*Awaits the biased w***ers to give their opinions on what a dog Baker is and he deserved 7 weeks.*

kettle...black. So you say other supporters are biased against. Would you feel the same way if Luke Ball was left in a bloodied heap on the ground some 40 metres away from the ball?

He admits he moved off his line way off the ball to cause contact with a player. Contact his made, player down.

Intentional - he said himself that he went off his line to make contact
High Contact
Behind Play
Severe/High Impact
Shit record

So about 7 weeks.

Re: What a Joke!

Oh rubbish! I don't like Farmer but you don't end up like he did unless you are belted or deliberately collided with in some way. He was concussed, broken nose with blood spilling from his mouth for heaven's sake.

Kosi - Giansiracusa
Ball - Whelan
Hird - McVeigh
White - King (Was King reported, can't remember but he didn't get seven weeks)
Steve Waugh - Jason Gillespie

Were they all belted or deliberately collided with?

How many weeks did McVeigh get for rearranging Hird's face?
How many weeks did Whealan get for the head clash he initiated with Luke Ball or Giansiracusa for Kosi?

Re: What a Joke!

i already told you, your no longer my son when you chose Freo Dobbers

You are not god... Chuck Norris is....
If this was reversed and Farmer did that to Baker I'm sure you wouldnt except that lame excuse from Us... because that's what it is. Baker is as guilty as sin and he was punished for it. It still dosent make up for Freo losing an important player for the rest of the match due to Bakers actions.

BTW - Fremantle didnt dob anyone in - The AFL investigated the matter and put it straight to the panel.

Have some maturity and stop looking at the incident through red, black & white glasses, and you'll se your cies of injustice are a little far-fetched.

Re: What a Joke!

Of course they would. They'd be appalled that the suspension stood despite the incident not being on video, and they'd be defending the opposing players' right to block Ball away from the play

This case has been a cracker....made all the more fun coz its the bloke a few hundred AFL players would lurrrrvvv to deck anyway.

I cant understand the ruling tho or what it was based on. They called up the freo trainer and even he produced nothing

From the herald sun
" He said Farmer was moving "faster than a jog, but slower than a sprint" when Baker moved to intercept his path.

"Mr Baker ran towards Mr Farmer at a 45-degrees angle and made contact with Mr Farmer," Kirkwood said.

Kirkwood said his view of the point of impact was obscured by Farmer's body, but he believed it was between Baker's left hip and shoulder, including the arm. "

So the trainer didnt really see anything either....but he's not suggesting Baker simply decked him behind play right ?...he's suggesting it could have been a bump off the ball isnt he ?

Not sure i understand...SEVEN WEEKS...biggest suspension for TEN YEARS !

For what ?...something that noone saw that may have simply been a free kick if Farmer didnt break his beak. It could have been a bump surely. There's nothing to say he couldnt have busted that beak on the turf after the hit...and there's actually nothing to say it wasnt simply an attempted hip and shoulder.

So after 2 1/2 hours three blokes have decided that based on no evidence whatsover and no evidence of an actual strike like an elbow/punch/coathanger etc (in fact evidence to say it WASNT a strike) they decide to send him to the bum factory for what ?...for FUN ?

The bloke admitted he BLOCKED Farmer and the evidence suggests this from both the Freo trainer and any defence witness...noone's talking about a strike are they ?

So...after hearing no evidence that it isnt just a free kick for a hip n shoulder off the ball that went wrong...no evidence whatsoever the bloke struck Farmer malliciously...in fact no evidence of ANY sort of dirty play other than a block off the ball u see in every single game of footy....they've sent him to the bum factory for 7 weeks for the hellovit.

Surely you could challenge this and get NOTHING...it just doesnt add up to be the longest suspension handed out for TEN YEARS.

Spin the wheel of destinyyyyyyyyyyy

I dont think they like the bloke :D

He's even been rubbed out for a cpl of weeks just for ATTEMPTING a jumper punch on a bloke a foot taller than him. Which means there should be a cpl of suspensions handed out in EVERY game right ?

Ya gotta laugh :D

The AFL is a ****ing joke of a league. Vlad and his gang should be lined up and kicked out the door.

The tribunal is is useless.

They should contest the decision in a law of court.

7 weeks... I look forward to watching the conclusive evidence which showed Baker decking Farmer as this is the only way they could come up with this penalty.

They probably will as Carlton did with Williams. There is no logic in the decision or evidence of any substance, making the whole thing look farcical. Obviously Baker has floored him and he has a 'Chopper' record but 7 weeks is absurd. The point has been made that there is no footage of it - and that is not the fault of the TV channel - but of the AFL with its buckets of cash - the entire ground should be covered throughout the game if they are going to continue to judge players on video evidence. Hasty reaction from an ineffectual body, I'm afraid.

Hate St Kilda. Hate Baker. Probably got justice according to Karmic Law (for this and his cowardly preseason hit on Brad Dick).

But there is no Natural Justice in the tribunal system. No evidence is required, testimonial or visual. You are not permitted to use precedents, because heaven forbid that consistency might break out.

The only "evidence" they could have possibly had was speaking to someone like Voss on the phone who claims to have seen it (maybe an AFL representative also saw it...who knows). But that is inadequate in anyone's language. Bring forward the evidence that you consider adequate to the public!

What's more, there is no doubt that if it were another club, say Sydney, it wouldn't have even been considered and would have without any shadow of any doubt been swept under the carpet. No doubt!

And this is what's wrong with the system. The points system, which was a good move given that it was terrible before, has now reverted to pure and absolute manipulation by the egos of the idiots running this particular section of our game. It has gone full circle.

And like umpiring and priority/tanking, Demetriou and his gimps will simply say that there's "Nothing to see here.". But there is, and to treat us with such contempt is a worse act than anything that dog Baker has ever done!

Re: What a Joke!

Stopped reading at this comment. I take it you have no experience in legal matters.

they already accepted Baker's evidence and disregarded
the freo testimony.. going by that in court he would get off.. the only reason they're suspending him is because of the crap tribunal points system..

..and yes I do.

St Kilda really should be careful with how they handle this. It has the potential to derail their already shakey finals chances. Most people outside the Saints would agree that Baker is a dirty player - whose past efforts have come back to haunt him. St Kilda won't do themselves any favours by portraying him to be a "saint".
