Chappy was a tough nugget.
Picken a tough campaigner.

Theres a difference between tough and strong as there is a difference between to lifting wrights and using your strength on feild.

Inside guys like DANGER Fyfe dusty come to mind.

You would not know anything about Majak Daw's level of courage. The game looks so easy on TV for people like you. Out on the ground you would shit yourself if Daw went anywhere near you. All talk no action.
Aren’t you cute and just a little precious. Did you and Majak have a moment as young boys and you’re still in love with him?

There wouldn’t be too many gym lifts (if any) that would favour a taller athlete from a leverage stand point.
Taller athletes do have the advantage of being able to carry more muscle mass though (which is why all the all time lifting records are set by guys around 190-195cm; must be the optimal balance of mass and leverage)
Good point

Full of Gucci & Prada (sorry only 2 I could think of) cravats :p
As for pound for pound strength in footy, i’m Going with Luke Breust.
Built like Bambi’s anorexic cousin, but he always seems to break tackles :thumbsu:
You must be watching a different Luke Breust. He tries the fend off and gets pinged HTB more times than not.

The other thing to remember is that he may not be interested in benching more than that. Id be amazed if the small/mid sized players couldnt all bench press a little over their body weight if they put even a little effort in to it.
Squat poundage would be a more interesting stat.

Oh definitely, just more an observation that he focuses on other areas. I reckon Fyfe is another one, he has very powerful legs and flutes, I reckon his squat and deadlift would be very high, but he's not going to be wasting time benching and T Bar rowing. He'd be strong enough for what he needs, but that's it.

Jack Viney has very short arms so no surprise he is good at bench press.

I think you would need a few more tests to decide the true pound for pound strongest.

Based on watching them play- it has to be Martin. He just swats grown men away like flies.

His core strength probably is strong but that doesn’t change the fact that most people don’t know what core does. You aren’t breaking or standing up in tackles because of your core strength, it’s other muscles doing most of the work.
as you know folks are merely invoking "core" as representative for all those things: lateral stability, north/south stability, when it is merely the abdomen working in symbiosis with other muscles.

Apart from a couple of outliers most are low (like, only squatting as much as they bench low).
I know a couple of guys that have worked (or still work) at AFL clubs in S&C roles and they reckon most players are a bit mentally soft or disinterested when it comes to squats.

Also; for whoever mentioned Steph Curry. He has a trap bar deadlift of 180-185kg the same as Hugh Jackman, 40kg less than Scott Pendlebury, 70kg less than me and 100kg less than what Sav Rocca was doing as a teenager

me! Stephen is about 192 cms, and weighs about 185lbs, about I'll the same height as Pendlebury, about 13lbs lighter, but that does not reflect the percentage less of his working muscles, he has very skinny long levers
