With players like Cotchin, Thurstfield , Farmer , Taylor , Rance and possibly McGuanne , Vickery or Webberly pushing for selection I think we look ok this week ?
DH has regularly spoke of structure and this week is the first week for some time that so many players have legitimentally been pushing for selection .
The chance to go more attacking or defensive, tall or small will present itself , hopefully with we have no more injuries.
The 3 season ending injuries of Foley, Bling and Griffith obviously robs us of a couple at least, within our best side , but structually and depth wise it might be the best off we have been all year ?
Thoughts ?

If we were to go more defensively in the backline and taller up forward , aware Astbury has shown more down back ?
As per OP more options this week with the structure !

Rance and Cotchin in, the rest depends on how players pull up and if they need more time at coburg.

A helpful hint to beating St.Kilda (obviously what we're out to do with O'Rielly as an omission which shouldn't be the case) is to have defensive forwards.

But I'm sure you've both thought that through when putting Nason, Taylor and Collins and your defensive forwards.

Playing the Saints isn't about winning the game and anyone who is looking at the game as a possible win is kidding themselves. This game should be nothing treated as nothing more than another opportunity to experiment with the lineup.

So why would you exclude O'Rielly, who was probably in the 'middle of the pack' in terms of performance yesterday?

Experimenting will lead to a 100+ point thrashing.

He should stay really. Played decent and wouldn't be good to drop him after 1 game. I'm just trying to pick the best 22. Maybe Connors or Nason can have a rest instead

Your point being. We're going to lose regardless so why not have a good look at a few of them in different roles and see what happens.

I know we will lose, but getting demolished isn't going to help us long term.

We could put our best available 22 on the park and it wont matter we could still get smashed if the Saints are on their game.

i like or something similar with structure and the future in mind.
B; farmer gourdis thursfield
HB: moore post deledio
C: newman martin collins
HF: taylor astbury cotchin
F: vickery riewoldt morton
R: browne jackson cousins
int: edwards king orielly tuck.

only difference other than a few positional changes is graham nason rance

If what Hardwick said is correct then lets go all out and field the following:

B: Farmer(20 games) Gourdis(1) Webberley(10)
HB: Connors(22) Astbury(16) Grimes(debut)
C: Nason(19) Martin(19) Rance(23)
HF: Taylor(2) Post(12) Collins(23)
F: Hicks(3) Riewoldt(66) Nahas(31)
R: Graham(31) Cotchin(40) King(54)
I/C: Browne(5) O'Rielly(1) Vickery(23) Newman(173)

Riewoldt plays to keep alive his slim hopes of winning the Coleman, while Newman gets a gig as the club captain. :D

But in all seriousness it highlights just how young and inexperienced the list is when you can field a team like that which is basically made up of players taken over the last 2-3 years.

Swap Grimes for Lids and anyone for Nahas and i would be pretty happy with that lineup :)

Yep you right. Grimes and McMahon the only two not to have played a game.
wonder if he'll get a send-off game this week or next

Don't want to be accused of tanking, playing saints should be safe as not like we would be any chance to win it
