He was dropped for a sustained period of poor ODI form.

If test form was in any way relevant he wouldn't have been dropped in the first place.

He proceeds to get dropped FAILS in the ODD game against WA, then dominates the Pura Cup game against them and all of a sudden he should be back in the team and a certainty for the World Cup 15.

Now, we all know NSW media/journos are ridiculously stupid (to go with biased) but I find it unfathomable that they can't make this distinction.

I remember Mick Lewis was dropped after a short, albeit unsuccessful period of poor ODI form. Stuart Clark was as guilty as anyone that day and was nearly given a full year of ODI fixtures to prove himself time and time again and he consistently failed.

And he has the balls, not to mention audacity to call the selectors and demand an explantion for being dropped. Ridiculous.

Please don't compare a dud like Mick Lewis to a champ like Clark.

But yeah i his domestic one day form doesn't warrant selection in our ODI side.
At least you have a test spot stuey, it could be worse, you could be a ODI player only so don't complain too much.
I'm not comparing him to Mick Lewis.

Just making the comparison that he was just as responsible for the 400+ game and was given more than enough time to prove himself.

Now he was rightly dropped and is seeking 'clarification' from the selectors as to why he was.

I'll be so upset if he goes to the World Cup, great test player yes. But not up to the standard at one day level and he doesn't deserve it.

What was wrong with his Comm Bank series form?? How did Tait deserve a spot ahead Clark. Taking 10 wickets from 6 matches @ 28.9 is not the statistics that indicate poor ODI form. His was travelling along nicely and all of a sudden gets dropped and replaced by Tait for the WC squad forno apparent reason while Tait had done nothing. He has every right to know on what basis was he dropped for.

I would be more than happy to be good at Test cricket. At the end of the day, Clark should be thankful he has been given the opportunity to play for Australia; not many people can say that.

Clark hasn't got much going for him in the short form being that he's one-dimensional, so he should carry on whilst focusing on being a quality Test bowler for the next 3 to 4 years.

Clark should attempt to understand the difference and work on it during the off season.

Since the start of the Champions Trophy Clarks Economy Rate is 6.17. I don't give a damn how good you are in Test Cricket, that's simply not good enough.

Fair enough he has been poor lately in terms of econ rate, but picking Tait over him isn't gonna solve that problem. I would bet that Clark would have a better econ rate than Tait at the end of their international ODI careers. Tait bowls all over the shot, he is in no way an economical bowler.

It's not as though he suddenly turns into a hack when we plays an ODI. Just can't have him, Pidge and Bracken all in the same side. It's pretty obvious. If either one was injured I'd have Clark in the side. As it is, Tait and Johnson are ahead of him because they provide something different.

I can understand why Clark would be cut, but for the sake of our ODI team I'm glad he's not in it.

I was puzzled by this as well. It shows how good a Test bowler he is, but when will people understand, you can't compare ODI form to Test form, I think a lot of people still don't realise this.
He's not in our best ODI 13. But he now should be the first bowler picked for the Test XI.

Tait is bordering on the most unique bowler in world cricket.

Add to that Johnson is a left armer.

and about 5 km faster than Lee and 12 km faster than Johnson

I think dud is going a bit too far, a dud is someone like Mick Lewis or Scott Muller.

If he had a couple of extra tricks to his arsenal there is no reason why he couldn't become a decent ODI bowler.
True
No one comes close to MIGHTY MICK

Stu blue as Shaun rises

as the main headline. Sook. Test form doesnt make you a one day certainty.

Clark deserves an explanation from the selectors, but it should be easy to give him one.

For me Lee & Bracken pick themselves, but neither is great bowler at the death. This is where Tait will be handy as well as being a genuine match winner. The selectors were always going to pick McGrath for his swansong. For me is was a toss up between Johnson & Clark, but the former looks a better ODI prospect & offers more variety than Clark.

As Bracken is one day specialist, Clark is a test specialist.

I don't see what the fuss is about.

And i hate the McGrath comparison. History tells us when things dont go 100% for Glenn he changes things up, where as Clark keeps on keeping on bowling balls on good lengths which turn into half volleys for advancing batsmen. Clark may well have had 2 good series, but comparing him with arguably the best fast bowler in history is far fetched.
