Just been watching some footage of our girls, not actual game content, and I swear they look like they have more muscle than half of our boys. Not sure if they have the same fitness coaching team as the boys.

I don't believe so. I read last year they recruited the SACA strength and conditioning coach, Anthony Gallomarino.

But we aren’t competing in the contests, and we aren’t running either, I don’t actually no what the hell they did over the pre season.
Yup my point exactly. We're in no-mans land when it comes to strength and conditioning.

When I think strength and conditioning, there are 3 KPI's, and we rate poorly for all.

Strength: Poor
Fitness/aerobic capacity: Poor
Soft Tissue Injuries: Poor

This guy has to go

Meanwhile the Crows players are said to be lifting incredible amounts of iron in the gym

We're looking underconditioned and can't run out games. I don't doubt that it's a knock-on of the DILIGAF ethos going on from Kenneth but I hope there's a fire lit in this preseason.

First time in a couple of years that we will get a multi-week headstart on pre-season training, along with all the other shit kicker clubs. No excuse to not be in prime condition round 1 next year.
Can’t wait to see preseason pics with pool noodles and an empty weights room.

Our recruiting has targeted players with slight frames for over a decade. Results not surprising.
A mate who was at a game v geebung that was played at Adelaide oval about 10-12 years ago sent me some pics of the 2 teams as they lined up against each other, which we discussed a day or so later.

The consensus was that at least 12 of the Power's starting 18 in that game were on average 5 cm shorter and even more importantly significantly lighter framed than their direct opponent!

Geebung, as suggested by Ford Fairlane are the gold standard for the physical development of their players but little has changed at Alberton in that 10 - 12 year time frame, eg Moraes (who did show some potential early in the season) is so lightly framed it's hard to see where the extra 5 - 8 kegs of muscle he probably needs to be a consistent player at AFL level would go and he definitely isn't Robinson Crusoe with that requirement on the current Power list.

As you suggest, the results in both high pressure minor round games or the must win finals against bigger and stronger opposition are not surprising!

You wouldn't mind if the light framed guys were gut running end to end and significantly quicker than the opposition, but they aren't

A lot of kids are light framed when they're drafted, no different to us. The difference is the other clubs are able to build their bodies up.
A lot of kids are light framed when they're drafted, and yet ours somehow start off lighter, and never get heavier. The fact that Burgoyne and Logan Evans would appear to be exactly the same build they have been for a couple of years, is a bit of an indictment, but really just the tip of the shameberg.

Yup spot on - it's why i'm not overly keen on him playing too many games at AFL level at this stage. He's getting brushed out of contest far too easily.

Yup, as I said, until we were getting smashed, the effort is usually not bad. Players are flying in and trying to tackle, but just get shrugged off. That's partly technique, but often it just comes down to sheer power (or lack of).

It was the same at the 07 GF. At ground level it looked like boys v men.

We don't know how/want to bulk up a frame. The Bungole's would have built a player like Sinn into a contested beast by this stage of his career. He has the frame. Us? Well he's "injury prone". If our players were 3 or 4 kegs heavier (and I don't mean Rioli heavy) they might be inflicting injuries in match day clashes rather than receiving them.

We all know what will happen as it does every year. Those carrying injuries will be left to heal “naturally” and rest their bodies in the hope of being ready to go by Christmas. Then we’ll realise they haven’t responded as we’d like come January, only to then send them in for surgery which we should have done when the season ended. Resulting in having them barely ready for round 1 or later again.

I wish I could keep my job if I was as mediocre as Graham has been!

Have you really tried? You might surprise yourself. :p

We have always been skinny. Talls, mids or defenders - all skinny doesnt matter the frame.

Either we draft poor genetics with insane accuracy or we have a shitty dietician and training regime.

You can usually tell by their frame.

You can't tell me you can't put some bulk on someone like Drew, DBJ, Visentini could be bigger etc.

Don't they have to inform the coaches and staff that they aren't going to be required next year by the end of this month (tomorrow) so we'll be stuck with this clown again
