I used to always hope for media attention for the Swans. I thought that it was one thing for a bunch of Swans fans to be all "Swans are great! Yippee!" but it felt extra-validating coming from an external source in the broader media.

Then the AFL media collective as a whole put together probably the single worst commentary and coverage of a game that I've ever seen with that qualifying final, and I decided it was just not worth it.

I no longer value a single word uttered about the Swans by anyone who does not support and love the Swans. It's a lot better.
