"Riewoldt also said the club would continue to support Sydney Stack, who has been released on bail in WA after he allegedly breached the state's coronavirus laws.
"It is disappointing as a senior player when someone finds themselves in trouble," Riewoldt said.

"We're not going to give up on Sydney Stack. He is a young man that has got a lot of issues, he's got a lot of potential, but most importantly now we put the football side of things to one side and we want to continue to grow him as a young man.
"He has got some fantastic traits and he unfortunately found himself in a situation which was [allegedly] against the law, and certainly the wrong thing to do.
"We are going to continue to turn him into a Richmond man."

I picked up on that.

It sounded like they have been trying, still with no success.

I got the impression from that pre planned presser all's not rosy.

Plus it was identical spin to his Dimma comment. At the end of the day, meaningless.

Nah, it’s the clubs position for Stack to see and for everyone as well.
You might be right things aren’t rosy and maybe they are along way apart or he’s hit the self destruct button but they’re being really clear.
I reckon it’s good

Didnt say he will be sacked now.
The club wouldnt make a decision until after his case is heard.

Being a multiple offender doesn't help his case, and i doubt the playing group would be behind him.

I wonder what CCJ thinks?

As soon he is back In the club the players will be behind him make no mistake. Plenty will see the good in stack and that he is making the mistakes of a 20 year old. One thing footy clubs are great for is helping young blokes though whatever issues they may have. Most players wouldn’t be judging him as everyone makes mistakes. The club will bring him back and set him up with someone that can help guide him through.

Richmond isn't a run of the mill club, we are an elite sporting organisation with one single objective... to win premierships.

Look at the condition our best ever player turned up to preseason, even winning the time trial.

Dusty is in mint condition whilst stack is on his "second" ****-up breach in 3 months.
Stack is still suspended until round 5 and he pulls this shit.

And, and its a big and, I'm not happy I paid part of his first QLD covid fine only for him to stuff up again... he owes me.... and you.

Defend him all you like.

you missed my point. You said the players wouldn’t be behind him. My experience with football clubs is once he is back through the door they will 110% be behind him. They’ll think he’s and idiot for the mistakes he has made, but they will do what they can to help him. They also know he is a cog in the chain and can potentially make them a better team.

Dusty professionalism is an example to all the younger players on the list, which is in stark contrast to that exhibited by Sydney.

I hope Sydney gets all the help he needs away from football, however, being in a professional environment does not automatically equate to success, the individual has to have the desire to succeed.

It’s clear you haven’t and that is fine, and I’m not sure whether you’ve had much involvement in any footy club at any level.
What your saying the players will be like goes completely against everything that has come out of this club for past 4 years.
No doubt he will have to earn the players respect back but the players will have his back the moment he walks back through the door.

Troubled Tiger Sydney Stack’s impending court case and his hope of being back in Melbourne soon are Richmond’s highest priority, star forward Jack Riewoldt says.

Stack enjoyed a victory on Friday when he was granted bail after spending the Christmas period in jail for allegedly breaking Western Australia’s strict COVID-19 quarantine laws.

The 20-year-old will remain in Perth ahead of his January 20 court appearance.

Riewoldt said Stack’s alleged actions in Perth and subsequent predicament were “disappointing” but that the Tigers were prepared for a bumpy ride when they signed in early 2019.

“We expected we were going to have some small issues with him,” he said.

“When you take on a young man like Sydney, who hasn’t been afforded a lot of the luxuries that a lot of Australian children grow with, you know it’s going to be a project, so we’re not going to give up on Sydney Stack.

This is the key passage for me from the article
“We’re going to continue to turn him into a Richmond man and continue to instill values in him that we believe in and hopefully turn him into the person we believe he can come.”

It is promising commitment to Sydney, but is guarded on the outcome.

A lot rests on what happens with his court appearance on the 20th of January.

What was better was he said "We are going to turn him into a Richmond Man". Not gonna give up just implies they will support him etc etc, but tuening hi into a Richmond Man means he probably needs to be on the track and in the rooms getting all that makes a Richmond Man!

Baz is pretty clear on his views but dunno he said that and who knows he could’ve been one of those beer gut blokes hiding on the flanks in his 40’s cause he’s too fat to run.

One things for sure if they decide to cut him they’ll move on at exactly the same moment and no one will blink.
