Jobs for mates - he had always been a friend of Vlad's was my understanding and I think Vlad would have known that Bucky would do what is best for the game and not what is best for Vlad's agenda. The man has integrity, and for a Port administrator that's high praise.

In only 3 games this season, Walker has booted 17 goals and is 2nd in the TAC Cup goalkicking. Considering he's only played 3 games, and those directly below him have played as many as 7, it's safe to say we have a prospect on our hands. He's also the most accurate shot at goal, converting at 85%.

I think being able to get the texas ranger (TR) in this hears draft (fingers crossed), will be absolutely awesome for us considering that this years draft is unlike last years where there were a fair few quality KPP, so if we manage 2 get a tr with a late pick and considering the way he's going, it will be more then a steal, it will be a daylight robbery of the worlds largest bank and getting away with it (once again fingers crosses), considering the way he's going at the moment. He's killing the Vic boys up forward. Sellar, Tippet/Griffen, TR, Hentschel (and hopefully young Turner), will be the greatest forward line we ever had (if all goes well that is).

I'm fairly familiar with the TAC Cup competition. Just so you guys know his first game against the Calder Cannons was huge - NSW/ACT have been the only team to beat Calder this season (though they haven't played the Knights yet ). The other two games (Bendigo and Murray) were not against such strong sides. They're both middle to lower ranged teams.

The more I read, the more I wonder if we are on the cusp of making one of the great draft steals in our history. I still maintain that we shouldn't -quite- jump around madly just yet though. In my humble opinion we need to:

- see him play as opposed to reading the stats; kicking all those goals is brilliant stuff but it would be interesting to see how his defensive game is, willingness to do the Perrie things that can win you games etc. Might sound a little....eh the word eludes me, but I'm eager to learn more about this kid as an overall player. We already know he can kick straight, and according to the interstaters who've seen him his pace is awesome.

- hope like hell that he can crack the 190cm mark (at 17 years of age though, he's got a pretty substantial bit of growing to do yet)

Anyway, I agree, if his form continues then you would assume he would’ve been taken quite high in this years draft. He’s a bottom aged player and is only eligible by 5 days, how good is that? He’ll be in our system early and we can monitor his development in the SANFL. Yes I’m getting ahead of myself, but you would assume it’s a near certainty that we'll place him on our list. And I don’t know why everyone is so worried about the AFL stuffing us up, it won’t happen. It can’t as they've put this program in place and we’re utilising it.

Taylor Walker is coming second in the TAC Cup competition in goal kicking from his three games.

Interstingly, the leader, Tim Bongetti (20 goals) has only played four games because he injured his knee in Round 4.

Yep. We were counting SANFL Preseason games in that period, whereas the AFL doesn't recognise them in the F/S eligibility tally.

Yeah. It was Port who brought it up to the AFL that Gibbs was ineligible. It then turns out Ebert shouldn't have gone under F/S because his old man didn't play the required games in the period set... So basically Port got away with one and we didn't. THe AFL then changed it after the Gibbs saga and its still a very unfair disadvantage to Victorian clubs.

Reasonable. I have only seen those 2 games. In the Murray game he might have only played a half? Wasn't prominant all game anyway. Is more a tall flanker / 3rd forward than a genuine tall. Bit Ken McGregor / Trent Hentshell.

In both games I have walked away, looked at the goalkickers and said "Walker? 4? Really?" Tends to drift out to the HFF, get a pass after a turnover and then slot the goal. I mean he kicked 4 goals from 6 kicks on a HFF flank against Murray. That's hard stuff to assess.

In the two games I have seen I like Simon Drum best of the NSW players. Not eye-catching but very busy and tidy skills through the midfield.

Straight from Weaver, an astute judge of footballing talent on the D & T board. Wouldn't get TOO excited just yet. Sounds decent but.
