Taylor Walker next Fevola?

I find it funny on this board how people worry about such insignificant things like why he's referred to as taylor walker, dont read into it so much its just because it rolls of the tongue better than just walker

Walker's an absolute champ.

My father, brother-in-law and little nephew flew over to Melbourne for the North Melbourne game. The happened to be on the same flight home as the Crows and Walker stopped and had a chat at the Melbourne airport.

That's really good to begin with but even better, when they got back to Adelaide and were waiting for their baggage, he came over to have more of a chat. He game my nephew some tips, told him to practice a lot on his left so he can kick with both legs. He even got Bunji over to say hi too.

That's a great way to relate to the fans - great work Taylor!:thumbsu:

Excellent story! Love hearing that sort of stuff.

Taylor Walker - Fev Mk II?

Well, maybe not as quick.

But my God isn't he lazy and insipid when things don't go his way? He seems to have studied Fev's behaviour and copied it to a T. Half-hearted efforts at a chase or a tackle - or no effort at all.

No doubt he's super-talented. No doubt he has a great football brain. And when he's on, he's on.

But when he's not, he's so goddamn awful I want to cringe. I now understand the Carlton followers who despised Fev.

Yes, Walker is young. But no, that doesn't excuse lazinesss and refusal to work for your teammates. Walker is a petulant ass and needs to learn that he has to WORK HARD when things don't go his way.

I don't like Neil Craig, but gee he was right about Walker needing regular stints in the SANFL ("punishment").

Unless Walker starts putting in an effort, he's no better than a slow Fev.

Re: Taylor Walker - Fev Mk II?

Unfortunately, yes. Never wants to get into a contest. Waits off the back of a pack like a wispy crumber.

Modra that is not.

Re: Taylor Walker - Fev Mk II?

His body langauge was very Fev-esque today. It's worrying.

Like Fev, he seems to be too well aware that his disposal is more dangerous than any other forward and as such is always focused on being the reciever, which is not the sort of mindset that leads to chasing and tackling. He needs some lessons from Dangerfield school of winning your own football.

Re: Taylor Walker - Fev Mk II?

I agree he is lazy but you have to look at other areas like our delivery into the foward line.

Walker isnt going to be a guy who u can just bang it in long to and hell take contested marks like tippet, we need the midfield to move the ball quicker into him.

I'd much rather have him in our team as he's going give this team many more good performances than bad, he is a class act and the only crow I feel confident is going to nail every set shot

We bitched and moaned about Burton always flying for everything and getting in Tippett's way. Now we're bitching and moaning when a player chooses to let Tippett do his job, while not getting in the way himself. Go figure..

For what it's worth though, I do agree with the comments about him being lazy and not working hard enough to get into position to win the ball.

Waiting off the pack is the smart thing to do, shows his footy smarts. No point in flying with Tippett.

Every pack. Not just ones where Tippett is flying.

This is flat out wrong, go back and watch the game again. He was involved of plenty of marking contests; he'll wait down on a number of occasions because he's highly effective in crumbing and snapping the quickie around the corner. While he does wait down from one or two too many contests, jumping into everything is brainless and says to me you have little to no grasp on game sense in football.

The defensive pressure is a weakness of his, just as it is with Franklin and Fevola, and just as it was with Modra and Jarman back in the day. But I tell you what, I'd ****ing take the ****ton of goals they kick every day of the week! Absolute superstars the lot of them! And moreover with Franklin, he was the absolute KING of staying down from marking contests in his early days, and you still see him doing a bit of it now. 110 odd goals in Hawthorn's premiership year though, I'd take that!

Some of you, nay a lot of you, have taken criticism of his deficiencies to ridiculous extremes.

Re: Taylor Walker - Fev Mk II?

Not at all. At the moment, he's as team-poor as Fev.

Ask Carlton fans why so many were happy to get rid of Fev, despite his near-ton of goals: he was bad for the team. He was selfish and lazy, and they were Fev-conscious.

Result? They are more competitive this year, with a more team-oriented approach.

Tex is a very smart footballer. He knows when to fly and when to stay down. Ive seem on many occasions where he has stayed down and had the ball fall straight into his arms when the rest went up.

I think Craigy wants to only have Robots in the team and get ride of anybody with natural ability and flair.

Bring on WAYNE CAREY AS COACH.

And the reverse is true at Footscray. They've become too Hall-conscious and the rest of the team has suffered as a result.

** This is not meant to imply that Hall is anywhere near as selfish & lazy as Fev.

Do you really think that Hall is the reason the dogs aren't performing as well this year? Not so sure about that myself, they have a lot of players that haven't matched their 09 form, and it's not just the 30 + players.

I don't think we will have the problem of being too Walker conscious in the future while we have Tippett in the side as well. If those two get up and firing though it doesn't leave a lot of ball to be directed towards Porplyzia, who is really just a marking option up forward despite his size.

He's one of the reasons, I'm certainly not saying that he's the ONLY reason though.

Re: Taylor Walker - Fev Mk II?

So frustrating on this board how once he doesnt have an awesome game he is slaughtered about being lazy. I would much rather have this bloke on our team than not, he is something special with unlimited potential, flair and passion (one thing our club has been lacking over the last few seasons).

Give him some time and he will work on his laziness and remember he doesnt have the off field issues fev has

My wish for next year is that Tex has a year like Jack Riewoldt has. Wow.
