I think the problem with Wood as has been identified by most people seems to be a lack of mental application. The skills are fine, it's all good and well to use his youth as an excuse but the truth of the matter is it isn't the lack of frame, size, strength or experince that is letting him down as much as it is things like determination, awareness and work rate.
He has shown, even in his Brisbane days that when switched on he is deffinately up to the level. Unfortunately those "switched on" days don't happen often enough or with any consistancy.
If we are being honest though his time spent as the number 1 ruck has been promising, it certainly seems to bring the best out of him, as it does in most ruckmen. The problem I have with that is I can't see him being the number one ruckmen at Collingwood for at least another 2 years. I am not sure whether he or the club are going to be willing to wait that long.
