As we will find out over the next few hours the team selected by Harves and his committee for the final game of 2011 has little to excite the fans.

Including the Collingwood game it amazes me that Harvey continues to select players that in no way will be part of Fremantles future going forward.

For a coach to put so much blind faith into the youngsters in his early coaching days why has he become so conservative and stagnate at a time when no one would blink if we lost by 50+ points this week with a team of kids.

Well i have heard that a few of our young players that should be playing this week in the AFL are playing in the WAFL

I tink it's a fair point, all 3 emergencies were young blokes last week who should have been in the 22 ahead of any number of crabs.

This is what i could get from Harveys SEN interview

Sibo & Shep on plane to Melbourne as emergencies
Bucovaz in Melbourne awaiting WAFL tribunal appeal
Bollenhagen Playing
Rhys Palmer out from an injury at last nights training
Houghton to play WAFL this week

I guess you haven't seen our injury list? We can only pick from 24 fit players...

I'm surprised you're not calling for Harvey to request special dispensation from the AFL to play Craig Moller and Thomas Head

Mate, I was trying to keep this quiet, but Harves was so desperate this morning that he phoned me to ask if I fancied playing on Saturday.
I told him that I would be too busy furiously drinking beer and counting my chins. It was nice of him to ask though...

I'm happy with last week, leaving the kids as emergencies v the pies..

Having said that our selection policy this year has been very inconsistent..

eg. We play Jesse, as a defensive forward. Gets 3 possessions.

Dumped next week.

Week after, Jesse back in. Harves says, it was my fault (Jesse's game), and we should give guys more than one game in a row to show what they can do/settle.

Then....

One game for Jack. Out
One game for Buco. Out.
One game for Faulks. Out.

Some consistency would be nice, can't imagine what it'd be like for the players.
Could easily breed resentment within the ranks too..

He asked you too??

But he told me I was the only fat Freo fanatic approached to be Freo Full Forward For a Frolicking Fantasy Forenoon...

But he told me to keep it quiet too. just like I can't say anything about my secret training session with fev for this weekends game, or how Lach set us all up with Aker, Fev, Lovett and Des for the comeback game in round 1 next year - we shall be known as the Beer Bursting Freo Forward Full Time Fanatics...

And MJ's high five was also part of our inspirational tactical plan - henceforth known as "pointing to the future - high fiving for directional non-contact gutless uncommitted excellence!!".

Look for the Hagdorn sponsored Facebook group coming to you soon...

Master of Clueless.

Did you just get TV, Radio and Internet in the last hour?

Don't understand the critics of the original post.
Next to our injuries the biggest factor in our dissappointing season has been the dumb and inconsistant selection policy. I would suggest not many players would have any confidence in the way they constantly get shifted in and out of the team for no apparant reason.
Would suggest the MASTERS OF CLUELESS would be the selection panel.

And you don't think there could be a relationship between the two?

Injuries without doubt restricted the selection options but do not explain.
1 The use of Jack Anthony
2 Palmer's yo yo selection.
3 Keplars non selection after good early season form.
4 Buco dropped after the Melbourne game.
5 Constant use of Pavlich in the midfield even after some of our mids returned.
6 Rushing players back from injury when in most cases a fit 2nd string player would have been the best option.
Can understand a mistake being made once but this happened on 4 occasions.
7 In a game that does not matter against the Dogs this week we have 3 young guys as emergencies who should all be playing in preference to Johnson Crowley and Duffield all of whom have been pathetic this year.

I don't understand Houghton's non selection this week given he has been good, whilst Sibosado and Sheppard have travelled?

That's not entirely true. In his first season he put far too much faith in proven old hacks and they predictably let him down. It was only once he turned to fresh youth without the baggage that we started to reap the rewards.

And that's what's pissed me off about Harves this year. He's turned his back on what's worked and gone back to his old habits. Selecting the same old underperforming senior players time and time again only to see them let us down time and time again. Talking guys like Duffield, Crowley and MJ.

Meanwhile we had Mitchie tearing it up in the preseason only to be banished once the season started. We had Mello come in and show real aggression and enthusiasm, far more than the aforementioned senior players, only to be promptly be dropped back to the WAFL while guys like Duffield were left to cruise around in 2nd gear all season.

Even today we had Sibo showing a lot of promise only to be subbed seconds after taking a nice mark in a pack. Meanwhile we have the same old senior players cruising around giving us the same shit. Good to see you used the last dead rubber in a wasted season to learn something about our players Harves.

Harvey is far too conservative and seems more interested in selecting players based on reputation than current form. And we've seen the same mindset with his positional selections all season - every move seems to be made with damage control in mind rather than taking a risk and attacking the opposition.

Excellent Post and sums it up beautifully.
I guess I am more dissappointed in regards to selection and coaching than what I have been with the injuries.
The injuries we can can not control and we have had WORLD RECORD figures in this respect but on the other hand selection and stratagies are controlable and that has been handled terribly.

You nailed it with this post, esti.

I get the feeling that the bloke that brought on quality youth was Chris Scott.

Look at the way Menzel, Christensen, Duncan etc played last night. They all looked like elite footballers.
