Let me be the first to say WELCOME BACK CHRISSY KNIGHTS :D:thumbsu: Interesting to see McKernan in before Griffin too, I can't say I'm too disappointed by that :D

From that interchange I'm going to venture that Knights, Stevens, Cook and McKernan come in.

Massive news as far as Griffin's career is concerned.

My guess would be McKernan Armstrong and Schmidt mo make up the emergencies, but that would mean Tippett rucking. .....

Could see McKernan.

Looks like Knights, Stevens and possibly McKernan for Sellar, Young and (possibly) Cook.

Interesting that McKernan now gets the nod ahead of Griffin, despite not reaching great heights in the MMC or SANFL so far this year. Looks like Griff's card has finally been marked with the thick red texta.

MCKERNAN OVER GRIFFIN!! Yes Craigster! Even if he doesn't make the cut, this makes it clear where the pecking order stands. I was looking for a sign from the panel that they are prepared to back talent, and this makes me feel a little better about things. Good decision :thumbsu:

Other things I like -

- Petrenko still named on the ground. Another vote of confidence from the selection panel, and deserved because the stuff he has been doing is excellent. If he does indeed start in defense, expect him to do a quite respectable job on his opponent; he plays the role well and will give us some dash. No doubt he'll spend at least some time in the attacking 50 as well.

- Douglas named away from the forward line. Whether he's on ball or running off half back (where he was trialled in 2006 or 2007 and looked quite good), it would be good to see him in a role where he can get into the play more. We've been told he possesses all this ability as a midfielder; if there's anything in any of these claims we need to find out by getting this bloke where the footy is.

And, well, do we really need to mention The Knights? Of course we do! He's Chris Knights! What a champ, great to see the infallible champion of everything back.

Phil Harper just announced on 5AA that Schmidt will come in for Goody if he doesn't come up by Saturday (will be our travelling emergency). Also interesting to note that Maric could ruck alone, and go head to head with Jamar for the duration of the match, doesn't bode well for Mckernan's chances.

VB definetley, and hopefully Stiffy available next week (according to Phil Harper anyway).:thumbsu:

Drummond would be happy with these changes!

So hopefully it will be OUT: Sellar, Young, Cook IN: Knights, Stevens, McKernan .. really do not want to see Tippett in the ruck on Sunday, I have a feeling in my waters that he's gonna kick a bag.

McKerrrrrrrnannn you beauty! :D

Hopefully it means Kurt can park himself in the F50 the whole game to ease his tendonitis.

Welcome back Knighta!!

Put me in the "hope we don't go with one ruckman" camp. I hate having to move Tippett into the centre, it just seems like such a waste.
Include me in there Stabby, but Phil Harper did hint that we might only take Maric into the game as the Dees ruck Jamar as their sole bigman. Anyway, will know by tomorrow night.:thumbsu:

Melbourne do have a very small team across the board as well and they kicked a lot of opportunistic goals against us in the pre-season game, so I don't think McKernan will make the cut. Tippett to pinch hit in the ruck again. Not ideal, but will have to do this week.

Melbourne
B: Matthew Warnock, James Frawley, Jamie Bennell

Foll: Mark Jamar, Jack Grimes, Brent Moloney

In: Garland, Sylvia, Spencer, Cheney
Out: James Strauss

It would have been a travesty if Griffin got selected this week after his pathetic showing against Fremantle. McKernan has been just about a shoe in to come into the squad. With McKernan at least you know that you will get a contest. With Griffin, you are one down before the ball is even bounced.

Pretty predictable changes this week. We really had NO other genuine options. I am not sure that Schmidt will get a game especially if Goody comes up. I think he was promoted just to make up the emergency numbers this week. He might get a gam pretty soon the way we are going.

If Goodwin comes up then I see only the 3 changes with McKernan, Stevens and Knights coming in. Everyone that is named in the starting 18 will play unless they get injured during the training on saturday. Considering our luck lately, someone copping an injury during the training on saturday is just about a certainty :(
