Actually been out on the field all day, peeps.

Thilan Samaraweera. Not a fan at all, but need a Lankan, even if he is a flat track bully of Haydenesque proportions. Averages 51.29 over 76 Tests, thanks in no small part to the SSC I'm assuming.

Got myself stuck needing a middle order Sri Lankan batsman, decided to pick one that helped my bowling attack as well.

Sanath Jayasuriya

Scored almost 7000 runs at a touch over 40, whilst taking 98 wickets @ 34 bowling his left arm orthodox.

He'll bat at number 6 for the Noobz0r XI, can bat anywhere in the top 6 though. He'll also be a good variation on lakers off spin, and has the ability to tie up one end with his bowling.

Numbers do this man no justice. Australia's greatest all-rounder was a man who understood that there was more to life than cricket, which is why his batting average seems to be so far below par for him. But the key for him is that he could be called upon to turn a game when it mattered. He didn't care for his average, but I would trust him to play me a match winning innings with the bat if needed, and his contribution with the ball would always be first rate.

This is tough. I know which 4 players I want to complete the XI but I need to choose the right order to grab them.

With this in mind, I'll take this guy first...

COURTNEY WALSH

Cricket is a numbers game, and few come close to this vastly underrated quick. Here's a few stats to chew on...

Tests: 132
Wickets: 519
Avg: 24.4
SR: 57

A physiological phenomenon, Courtney Walsh probably bowled faster for longer than any man in history. His spirit was as unbreakable as his body, urging him on to the previously undreamed-of heights of 519 Test wickets and 30,019 balls, not to mention the countless overs he sent down for Gloucestershire and Jamaica. For the first half of his career, Walsh was the willing workhorse cantering into the wind while Curtly Ambrose or Malcolm Marshall galloped down the hill. But he grew stronger and wilier with age, graduating to the new ball around 1993, and forming one of the great opening partnerships with Ambrose: 421 wickets between them from 49 Tests. Walsh's action was neither elegant nor orthodox, but it was hugely economical, catapulting the ball down from 10 foot high with a simple snap of the hips. An old-fashioned specialist, his comic incompetence with the bat earned him a Test-record 43 ducks.

Completes my pace attack very nicely. Give me a bit for the next pick, tossing up between a lot of options.
