My phone died at about the same time this match did.

Brodie Martin had a typical Brodie Martin SANFL game. He (along with Porps who sucked tonight by the way) absolutely must have a big, thick, permanent line through their names. I don't care about what he did tonight, he sucks and I'm over it.

CEY got a lot of touches and did a lot of clearance work but wasn't actually that great. As Spackles (I think) mentioned earlier, there's something about him. He's definitely got something. I'd love to see him at AFL level to see if that something translates.

Cameron did some very clever stuff and kicked some nice goals. Kid is loaded with talent and could really shine working in tandem with Betts.

Otten had a rough night and won't be pressing for AFL selection on the back of it, but at the end of the day he's in out best 22 so I don't know what we'll do.

Battersby did a few nice things and got quite a bit of the ball.

McKernan and Thompson were fine, but fine isn't enough.

LJ (and I love LJ) did **** all.

Walker must play against the Dees next week. He looked fine and there's no point playing him in the SANFL. Give him half a game against the Dees to see if he'll be right for the Pies game.

Surely Sando will see sense and play Tex against the Demons and not risk Tex at Clare on a bumpy country oval. Make him the sub at Adelaide Oval. Can you imagine the buzz around town and the roar from the 50000 strong crowd when he comes on!

This would be the perfect scenario for Tex's well being especially with us having the bye the week after.

I'd be on my ****ing feet screaming my lungs off like a teenage girl at a Justin Beiber concert! :D :p

Hope we get confirmation early in the week if he plays afl.

Hmm I wonder how cheap I can get over for it...

It's a great sign that Tex played without a brace or even strapping, must be very confident in his knee

It will be interesting to see who loses their spot when Tex comes in. Whether we run with 3 tall forwards (excluding Lynch as a tall) in Pods, Jenkins along with Walker or whether one of the first two named lose their spot for him to come in.

Its a really interesting situation we have this week, we play the second bottom team in the comp at AO. Crows reserve play a game in the country.
What is the best situation for Tex? Play a "soft" AFL game against the Demons as his return game or play the Pies at night which could define our season?

Logically he plays the two SANFL games then pushes for selection against the Pies. But I wonder if getting Tex to gel with our forward structure against a softer opponent is better for his confidence then a game in which he may possibly struggle to do a thing against the Pies defence.

I know the Club will say the Pies game, but Im just thinking he may be better served playing next week for us.

I am assuming that Clare is no where near up to AFL standards as a ground.

Tex has been running around and training solidly for the last three months. I just think it will do his confidence the world of good facing the Demons defence then facing the Pies as a first up game. I would rather him get the feel for the game at AO against the bottom teams then face a massive match first up.

If we cant beat the Demons at AO, with Tex rested at HT or 3QT, we shouldnt be playing finals in 2014.

The decision should rest with him and Sando. We are conservative club and Im sure we will go with playing him in the SANFL. But Tex playing in the AFL against the Demons has a lot of merit to it.

I tend to agree but what's holding me back a little is how the pies game will be just that little bit bigger with it being tex's first game back.

1st half of the season defining game, packed Adelaide oval, and Tex's first game back the real opening of Adelaide oval.

Jon Ralph just informed us that Kurt Walker played well but probably needs another week in the VFL.
Did he mention coming back from ankle surgery?

The 'ol second week back after injury blues strikes again.

Why does this occur?

It's like playing golf after you haven't had a hit for ages. The first few holes you hit it beautifully and can't believe your luck. How easy is this? Then after you've played a few holes it turns to shit and you throw your putter in the lake.
correct .......every time, its almost a rule

watch tex next week stink it up ....has to play SANFL again

I mentioned this earlier in the thread

Many believe its because the first game you go in fresh and raring to go however the 2nd game is the first week the player has to deal with the competitive knocks and bruises and the player is generally a little more sore because his body is adjusting again to weekly competitive footy

I would suggest Pod's is the one to come out, even though he has fulfilled his role in the last 3 games.
