And a song to sing as we watch,

Hey Matty Clarke by Kevin (Random260) Wilson :

Hey Matty Clarke you campaigner, where the **** is Sharp
I’ve looked at all these other spuds and there’s no one that I like
I wrote you a ****ing letter and posted about it twice
You dopey ****ing Richmond fart, you forgot my ****ing Sharp

If I wanted a stupid ruckman type, I would’ve bloody asked
And this half back flank and temu mid, you can shove right up your arse
You’ve stuffed the bloody order up, it’s enough to make you spew
But it’s not just me who’s snakey, SGIO is dirty too

Next time I come to see ya, I’m going to punch you in the guts
And I’ll sack the other recruiting knobs and kick Toddy in the nuts
You just wait 'til next year when you go back to the draft
And me and me little GIO come stomping through the door
And we'll say, yeah, you wait for it

Hey Pyke and Woosh you smell his breath
And check his bloodshot eyes
And don't listen to him eagles fans 'cause he tells ****ing lies
He's just a ****ing useless campaigner and he's not even very bright
'Cause the stupid ****in' w***er, forgot me ****in' Sharp

Hey Matty Clarke you campaigner, where the **** is Sharp
I’ve looked at all these other spuds and there’s no one that I like
I wrote you a ****ing letter and posted about it twice
You dopey ****ing Richmond fart, you forgot my ****ing Sharp

It's funny how it interrupted the lyrics XD

How does Banfield stack up against those midfielders?
I’ve got them all considerably higher. There’s actually some real quality left, I’d love to get two of those then Charlie as a Cat A. Williams will get a bid so he’d miss out due to our list spots.

Evans, Walley get Cat B spots.

So we're literally making up absurd excuses to try and justify us trading a F2 to slide back one pick?
Terrible, terrible move.
They obviously calculated that GC couldn't match Addinsall and ****ed it up royally.
I'm not mad at nabbing Lindsay, but why did we trade a F2 to do it?
That is an assumption that WC got the calc wrong, it is possible they would make it tough to match and thought GC may not take him at that stage.
It is also possible the Eagles had Adinsall then Lindsay next on their board and then a gap. It is possible that Hawks would take Lindsay or trade with Dogs who seemed to really want a half back.

Take from round 1: its hopeessly compromised with academies just lacks iany ntegrity, we went hard for the very best available and got class, the dearh of WA tallent is concerning.

Pretty much. Even with a steeper points matching system this year, the academy bidding was unavoidable in the way that it dictated the draft.

The elephant in the room for western clubs is the lack of top level draftees being produced locally - a simple numbers game means the pool in northern states is massive now. Makes it impossible to compete when the best talent is locked away from selection. A lot more needs to done to foster development locally (in WA), and ideally the Eagles, Dockers and WAFC would come to agreement on how best to address this issue.

Satisfied with the talent that has been brought in to the club.

W.Duursma, C.Duff-Tytler and H.Reid together could be a seriously elite combination if they each develop as planned.

Likewise with everyone else, not at all pleased with losing an F2 for a single pick shift - although without doing so it's unlikely we get to take J.Lindsay, who helps to address the serious need for quality kicks at the club.

Still would like to see the addition of a midfield accumulator - ideally one with good pace.

At least there were no early bids on T.Williams as feared, so pick 29 remains to make a live selection with as things currently stand.

No, it's only the worst case assumption.

That's the only logical thing to assume at this stage, there is no consideration for alternatives.

The Future 2nd is gone, and with it, all hope of turning the club around.

Doubt North bid if they have the first pick.

Dogs a chance.

Blues would 100% I reckon.
its risky to bid for the sake of it.
you only do so if youre willing to take the player.

i just dont know how much players are swooning over a 0.5 goal a game small fwd. theres better options.

if that happened, Pyke needs to make changes.
pyke needs to boot his own ass out at the same time.

Watch the vision and you'll know they royally bungled it. Just disgraceful

is ollie greeves worth a punt if he makes it to our pick? I know a lot of people dont rate him, but he has ball winning ability.
perhaps a worple like get.
I suppose getting him at 29 would be better than 13 but it would feel a bit like shuffling deck chairs really. Hall is too slow to be a long term mid. We're a year on from delisting Culley, who was too slow to play mid and we had better forward options. I think Greeves would be a waste of a pick for us.

probably right. i prefer we go with upside anyway. thregold, NHH and pou jnr are intriguing.

Discount is 84 points so we’d need 477 points which is covered by pick 29

We have a lot of options as to how best to use those two picks

When trying to work out what the discount is I couldn’t work find the discount on the AFL website, however the Adelaide and Collingwood club websites both state 197 points for bids in the 2nd round and beyond.

Would prefer NHH

Culley was never a natural mid though. Was just dominant at lower levels due to his size, kicking and overhead marking

Got a bit entertaining but happy with the 3 selections. Taking Banfield if he is bid on is a non negotiable for me to feel like it was a good draft. We have one more player after that. I'm taking Cody Curtin. Would be nice to have one of Williams or Evans plus Curtin so I guess in hindsight since its impossible to delist Cripps or move him to the rookie list [for reasons] we really shouldn't of given Bazzo another contract. Ah well.

Everyone getting worked up about it being a one spot upgrade.

The numbers mean f*ck all when it’s a live trade and you know who’s still on the board.

If that trade is made pre draft then melt away but we obviously saw a gap after that pick, wanted Addinsall, and were content with Lindsay.
They traded out a future second for nothing. If you're pleased with that, good for you. The melts are justified and only compounded after last years clusterfk

We obviously viewed the next crop of players after Lindsay below our needs.

Given the likelihood of GC matching both their academy players.

I still feel more work needed to be done before tonight, 13 + F2 could maybe have gotten us a little higher.

As it worked out, all we needed was the Blues pick 9 to grab a genuine mid.

Clarke was content with 3 inside the Top 15 as his narrative, but they shifted the goal posts from 3 inside Top 10.
