yep.

if the asking price becomes a first rounder by gc then we must back away at lightening speed and let them convince him to stay or go to a melbourne club. meanwhile just leave our offer on the table. if we miss out on him then so be it,

to be honest with the emergence of redden and lobbe this year i would rather look at polec.

his form and work rate might be questioned now but if he can come good for us he is a bigger need for our side than gorry is.

if our 2nd rounder can pick up polec (which i have no idea if it would) i would use it on polec over gorry, just for the simple fact a long kicking run the lines wingman is exactly what we need. back burgo and hinks to get the best out of him , it has worked for us recently and if it fails then it was a price to pay for something that might have come off and at least we tried.

i saw a fair bit of polec in the sanfl, i know he is talented, and that hasnt gone anywhere, just needs the drive to succeed. i really want port to target players who are really driven in the draft but as i said polec is a risk worth taking.

We need to trade in a pick around 20 to bring in gorringe. Who can we offload for this? Butcher would be one?

facepalm.

so most would agree that kpf is the biggest need on our list. that we have 2 decent to good ruckmen in lobbe/redden, and that kpf would be an impossible position to fill by trading someone in meaning we need to develop one of our own...............

and you want to trade out a developing young kpf who may or may not make it for a ruckman who may or may not make it?

no.

If he wants to come home they'll get our second round pick or he goes into the draft. Aslong as the cows don't use their second round pick he's ours.

Seriously laughing at crows lack of draft picks never gets old.

Yep I agree, but butcher is never going to go anywhere with us. He is either in need of a change, or he just isn't going to make it at all. Trading out butcher right now is no different to trading out Stewart. Cos they both are ****ing useless!!

I'm going with facepalm again.

very unlikely gorry comes to us via draft/psd. and i dont think it would come to that anyway.

Clearly you don't watch games. It's ok, no need. Just read the game day thread yesterday

if we traded off every player who hadnt established themselves at afl level by the age of 22 due to injuries/form then we would have traded away

gray, hartlett, moore, pittard, butcher, lobbe and redden all for round 2 picks or worse. could you imagine the superstars we would have drafted with those mid-draft picks?

but dont worry, if they dont work out by the age of 22 we just trade/delist them and try again...... right?

I watch games. The reason I tend to stay away from the game day thread is because of posters like you. The guy has never had a preseason - so he is a 90kg 197cm unfit player who has played 20 something games over 4 seasons. But sure, lets trade him out because its clearly his attitude and lack of tallent that has let him down, not his body. He had 2 tackles and 2 handballs yesterday. Not good enough. Jake Neade had a 1 possession game a few weeks ago. He's played only 10 less games than Butch. Should we trade him out too ? Clearly he's a stinker of a player too.

He needs time. Stop over reacting. If he's having games like this this time next year after a FULL preseason and 15+ games. Then you can whine all you want and I won't pull you up on it. He is there because there is no one better - and if they are it's by a bees dick and they won't be on our list next year. He will.

Trading out a top 10 pick KPF when he's at his lowest trade value at 21yo because he's underperforming after a string of back and hip injuries he is finally getting over would be the most ridiculous move made by any football department in the history of the game.

Exactly - the dons stuck by gumby.

Sam Day and Gumby are a different story than Butch, not that I think either will be traded.

The Bombers have a heap of quality talls, probably more than any other established side, and they've just gotten Daniher in. If they could get a good deal for an injury prone Gumbleton they could strengthen another area of their list and still have absolutely amazing KPP depth.

The Suns have developing quality all over the park. Nobody is getting a game for the Suns just because they are a high draft pick. They are all high draft picks. Day might want more opportunity and he's still almost certainly worth a good first rounder, which might tempt the Suns, but I don't know enough about their list profile.

That said, I doubt either of these guys will be traded. Day especially.

We wouldn't get a first rounder for Butcher at this stage, his trade value is currently probably the lowest it will ever be. He is getting as much of a go here as he would anywhere. He is apparently incredibly popular amongst the players here. We have invested a lot of time in him and we've seen flashes of what he is capable of. The potential value of Butcher coming good is worth far more than the 2nd rounder we'd get for him, especially considering that would only leave us with a 28yo Schulz and an incredibly green Mason Shaw as genuine KPFs on our list.

Not going to be popular but I would trade Gray for Gorringe

That's not unpopular, that's moronic.

One of our most talented players is finally hitting strong form after coming back from a horrific knee injury. Let's trade him for an unproven ruck who probably wouldn't make our best 22 next year.

Or, you know, we could just trade a second rounder for him/draft him with a second rounder Ben Jacobs style if GC play hardball. So what you're essentially saying here is that you'd trade Robbie Gray for pick 30 or so. Yeah, that's gonna be a teensy bit unpopular.

it wouldnt be popular. oh shock. trade a gun player for a promising ruck who hasnt established himself in the afl when we are not desperate for a ruck. grays 4th qtr against geelong was pretty special. kept emerging from packs with the ball. has class ball winning ability. if he wanted to go somewhere a vic club would easily off-load a first rounder. dont see him wanting to go anywhere nor us wanting to get rid of him. as a forward who late in games has been able to go on ball and dominate other tired mids is very valuable. am i the only one that has noticed that he has been hinks secret weapon to put on the ball late in games and has killed the tiring opposition?

This thread is a train wreck.

I wonder what the Crows would give up for a 2nd rounder?

If D.Garlett is suddenly draftable now we should take him. Fills our need for a quick outside mid.

Sam Siggins? Rory Atkins? :p

Probably Shaun McKernan.

Rucci just mentioned Gorringe to Port again. He's said it so often I've written it off - won't happen.

Gray was really good yesterday and had a heap of clearances against Adelaide in the last quarter when the game was won. I'm with you, can't believe anyone would want to trade him.

I remember in the crows early days when their supporters would call in to AA to trade Smart, Bickley, Hart etc for something glittery. Those guys were all an integral part of their premierships.
