And that coward skunk Scalise refusing to answer whether the election was stolen or not. If you believe it is so mightily then back yourselves you filthy campaigners. There should have been harder follow ups like, "Why are you so afraid?", "Aren't you a clear example of what is dividing the country right now?", "What does Donald's ass taste like?"

Scalise was shot by a maniac deranged by political discourse. Yet he never checked his support for divisive pronouncements and policies. Now I suppose he IS afraid of conservative thugs coming after him if he speaks against the dear leader.

PoS

I'm starting to think there is a fear of retribution if you are seen as not following the party line.

Most are hedging their bets afraid Trump gets back in and goes all Pol Pot on them

Don't forget the punk spent three years railing against masks and in effect, killing his own constituents, and now has the gall to rock up to Congress wearing a mask himself because he is sick.

PoS of the highest order.

This is huge (a Red State):

Democrats have secured full control of the Virginia state legislature, winning a majority in the house of delegates and depriving the Republican governor Glenn Youngkin of the opportunity to enact a 15-week abortion ban.

Democrats maintained their majority in the state senate and flipped control of the house of delegates, where Republicans previously held a narrow advantage. Democrats’ victories quashed Youngkin’s hopes of securing a Republican-controlled legislature that would be able to advance his policy agenda, casting doubt upon his prospects as a potential presidential candidate.

Going into the election, Virginia Democrats held a 22-17 majority in the state Senate, with one vacancy. Republicans currently control the state House 48-46 with six vacancies.

One of the seats was won by a transgender person making her the first openly transgender state senator in Virginia history.

Vivek just hit the ground running in the 3rd debate - said why have we got these moderators, this should be moderated by Tucker Carlson, Joe Rogan and Elon Musk.

Such a deeply serious person :tearsofjoy:
He is there to boost his image , showbags , full of shi…

Interesting sound bite from the other night...
Trump was the right man for 2016, but he left a $8 trillion deficit!?
So how was he the right man then?
I assume it refers to the SCOTUS capture.

If Trump doesn't become the nominee (legal reasons would be the only potential factor at play) who on earth are the republicans going to put up for nomination ?

Would have to be DeSantis or Haley wouldn't it ?

that's the million dollar question, its going to a wild ride

will all hinge on the DC Federal case that starts early March IMO

I think the dodgy florida Judge Cannon, might actually outsmart herself with her continued delays. Her's is due to start May 24 , but she just said she will make a decision on that in March.

If she moves it to after the election, that might give Fani Willis Georgia case time to nail him around June/July and that's the one case where all the dominoes are already falling and he cant pardon himself as its a state case

To answer your question, Surely the GOP has a break class option whether that's De Santis, haley who might of come 2nd on votes or could they nominate someone out of the complete picture, you think they could rewrite the rules for special circumstances and these are crazy times?

if he nominated a VP like Haley, maybe they slide straight into it?

Needs to be sorted by July 15th you would think. Crazy times ahead. Hollywood's best script writers couldn't come up with this shit

Is scomo available?

Yep DeSantis and Haley would be the last 2 standing - so it would be DeSantis, the GOP base aren't nominating a woman imo.

Moot discussion anyway - Trump is the nominee no matter what legals catch up with him. He'll appeal when he's found guilty, it won't be resolved before the election. And even if he somehow did get jail time (won't happen) or some form of house arrest (might happen) he'd still just run from there, 100% guaranteed. He knows becoming prez again is his only way out.

One thing to the detached and largely disinterested observer, is why the Republican Party with its long history have just let it become Trumps plaything

Aren't there any Republican elder statesmen or women our there?
Not many with any backbone, no. Or rather, not enough that are willing to throw their political career away on principle (see Liz Cheney).

Its a cult, you must pay homage to dear leader or you are instantly persona non grata. GOP establishment are stuck coz they can't win anything electorally without MAGA nation (which is why so many of them are now 'meh' about the whole democracy thing).

Yeah they had no spine or underestimated his power over the drones; until it was too late and the monster became too scary to handle. McConnell especially was in the thinking he was a useful tool. Once the loons were unleashing during covid, everybody got scared not just for their careers but from potential violence from them.

The conservative media really did a job on their zombies here. That's what weaponized his brand of bullshit. I know a guy who lives in a regional big town/small city. His house is in a cul-de-sac with four others. He says one of his neighbors flies a Trump flag and has yard signs for every right wing political candidate and issues such as CRT. On a cul-de-dac with no thru-traffic. Something inside him feels the need to let the other adults there know exactly how he feels. And now apparently is flying the US flag upside down. :confusedv1: Just effin bonkers how deep the pathology goes.

Polls are interesting beasts. I remembered reading an article last year but couldn't find it. Here it is:

According to the poll, which was conducted by WPAi Intelligence after the midterms, DeSantis leads Trump by 11 points among Republicans in Iowa, almost a complete reversal of their positions in August. The Iowa caucuses kick off the primary season and have lingering implications for the viability of primary candidates.

DeSantis also leads Trump 52%-37% in a hypothetical one-on-one matchup in New Hampshire, another early primary state. And DeSantis has an even bigger edge – 56% to 30% – in their shared home state of Florida, as well as a 20-point lead in a Georgia head-to-head primary matchup – 55%-35%.

Poor old Ronnie now running for third place.
