Roast The Brownlow has no credibility left

That doesn’t make much sense ..man.
Which part doesn't?

It's called QA. If the senior umpire has an odd opinion, it would be fleshed out and balanced out if the other umpires didn't vote for that guy.

And if it was an admin error made by the senior umpire - it would have been balanced out too as the other umpires would be very unlikely to all make the same error when giving their votes.

But regardless, he real answer here is "who really gives a s**t?"

It's an opinion award given by umpires. Who really cares who they think played well?

I mean, the umpires tell us they are so intensely focused on each contest that they can't tell which player is which, what the score is or how much time is left - so why do people think they're capable of making legit assessments on the value and performance of each player on the ground? It's just an absurd expectation.

Just take it for what it is.

Someone made a good point about the JHF game that the umpire probably confused JHF with Miller Bergman (As the Adelaide Advertiser even did). Bergman's game wasn't that special either, but his extra stats, plus the context of JHF getting booed arund that time and the umpires maybe feeling sorry for him might make an explanation (a bad one, but still).
That’s been covered Irene if you had bothered to read this entire thread of worthless drivel.

Yet still a more detailed - and more accurate - way than the umpire’s votes.

Detailed?

What sort of details are you expecting?

And no. Your suggestion is not close to as accurate as the votes themselves, which should tell you something about how ridiculous a suggestion it was.

He’s such a self conscious c -/- head
I saw Shane Heard play the worst half of football I've ever seen a human being play against Alan Jakovich in a Final at Waverley. The dude literally kicked 8 in the second half and single handedly led his team to the next round of the finals. All whilst Shane Heard stood there like a garden gnome watching the entire horrible episode unfold in front of him.

I gotta ask... what kind of meek person rolls with a nic like that??

Would you mind sharing the logic behind it?

Being a mod doesn't make you correct. Marshall had a better season than Neale but somehow the umpires only give votes to midfielders. It's a terribly flawed award and has lost all credibility.

What does me being a mod have to do with anything? Strange thing to bring up.

Nobody has said it isn’t a flawed award. But to suggest it means Neale had x times the better year than Marshall because that’s what the votes say, is just as flawed an argument as the award itself.

That’s not at all what it means.

lol, typical Lachie Neale. Nowhere to be seen when the heat was on. The bloke is officially the most overrated footballer of all-time. Absolute travesty he sits beside the likes of Robert Harvey, Gary Ablett Jnr, Chris Judd just to name a few.

Imagine if the umpires allowed him to take the kick he earned and he hit a target and goaled.

Terrible we will never know.

How'd he go getting his team over the line in Grand finals?

Played in one grand final and went for 36 disposals & 1 goal.

Played in one of the worst teams of the 80's and early 90's. Only won 50% of the time. Was always tagged and still dominated the game as one of the greatest midfielders of all time.

As for Neale, starts off his career by walking into a team competing for a flag.
Jumps off the sinking ship.
Walks into another team competing for a flag and just proceeded to stink it up in 2 of the 3 finals played.

As I stated before, absolute travesty this bloke will always be remembered as dual Brownlow medalist. He's on the same level as Scott West or Tom Mitchell. Then again, Tom was pivotel in helping his team win a flag today.

He also tried to go back to Freo once he got paid millions of a front-ended contract by the Lions.

Neale just isn’t on the same level as Bont, Petracca/Oliver and a few other mids in the top echelon. He’s been a great H&A season accumulator in a top 4 side, but he doesn’t have the match turning quality of the very best. Don’t think the Brownlows change anything for anyone that actually watches the footy. No one thinks Ollie Wines is a legend of the game.

He doesn’t have to be on that level he only has to play well against who he’s playing against.
