I'm a fan of Rowell but he'll have missed the best part of his first 2 seasons due to significant joint injuries and while he's done incredibly well in the 4 games he's managed to play out, let's be mindful that we're really only looking at an incredibly small sample size of around 210 minutes of shortened-quarters-high-interchange football.

He's a solid guy, bit of a brick s***house build, I'm not quite sure what his tank is like as far as competing in a higher paced game with less rotations; how will he be going half way through the last quarter?

Rowell's a great talent but after a rough start to his career, maybe we just cool our jets on him for a bit, wait until he's back up and running. Similar to Kemp (except we've actually seen a bit of Matty in the shorter format game). Let them get fit, start playing regular 2021 footy and then we can start to assess.

Pretty excited to see both out there in the second half of the season. We've got the Suns Rd 21 in early August, hopefully both are playing (and Walsh takes the 3 votes..)

Yep,
Play him at HB where he has credits.
He’s being paid plenty so he can learn to live with it.
Dow looked terrific early, we must persist with him onball.
Cuningham offers class and we have to get him involved in the action.
Hard to knock Curnow as he’s always 100% effort but it’s pretty clear he’s the one that has to be phased out as the season unfolds and he enters the twilight of his career ...

Could feasibly now have Williams and SPS split their time 50/50 between two roles - half back flanker and attacking midfield distributor.

I'd pass on that specific scenario.

Williams mid/wing/hbf rotation. Stocker could be part of that, going between hbf & mid, while Doc & Saad could do hbf with a bit of wing.

SPS wing/mid/hff rotation. Cuningham, Fogarty & Martin could be part of that, Fisher could do small/hhf/wing. Dow can do mid/hff but has to have a good chunk of mid time so he stays in the game, let him play naturally to his instincts and hunt the ball, a bit like Richie.

I've looked back, and he was playing school football leading up to (and on the day of) his injury, so for Geelong Grammar in the APS.

I accept what you're saying about his form at the time though, but tiny pinch of salt for school football, regardless of how some might feel about the competition level of the APS versus other school leagues and junior leagues below the NAB League.
I could be reading the TAC Cup dates wrong, but he was playing for Bendigo Pioneers until September 2019. My original point stands, all the talk pre draft was he improved further as an inside mid after the champs in the TAC Cup

he is and he’s playing “both kinds of music - Country & Western”.................

That scene always reminds me of a funny anecdote from my brother.

He used to be a pretty serious wine buff and one day found himself at a small town bottle shop.

He asked what kinds of wine they sold.

Employee answered 'We sell Red AND white'.

(no hint of irony / sarcasm involved)

Wholeheartedly agree the biggest pressure any team or individual can face is scoreboard pressure. Doesn’t matter what sport you are playing.

You can have the in your face manic pressure on the field which the good teams have but that’s an immediate pressure for that moment when you have the ball or the ball is in your area. The scoreboard dictates how you play, more or less risk

I just do not get why clubs don’t put a huge effort in at every training session to make a meaningful difference to an absolute key to winning games. It’s bewildering

And it's not just the scoreboard pressure on the Opposition, it's what it does to your teammates when a gettable shot at goal is missed. Instead of being up & about, celebrating a goal, it can flatten confidence, momentum, self belief, while at the same time handing momentum/belief to the Opposition.

Agree with most of this but SPS should not be played on the wing - I am presuming you meant Setterfield to the wing here ? SPS is blindingly good in the guts and one of his biggest problems is gut running.
Would like SPS on the wing and rotating through guts. He’s played on the wing and done very well before. Setterfield looks lost on a wing, but does much better in the guts.

It's a poor reflection on our coaching team and match committee that we'd rather play Casboult on one leg than alter our system to suit the available (fit and healthy) players.

Richmond are the example yet again - lose Rance, alter game plan and personnel, win premiership. The sum of the parts etc etc
I agree. Wouldn't even mind a tall forward setup of Harry, JSOS and Pitto/TDK (resting 2nd ruck).

While I agree, the problem is that we don't have a fit 2nd ruck - so Casboult draws the shirt straw and has to play through injury, as a FF/2nd ruck.

I'd say we would be better off altering our system than doing this. That means our forward line might be short, but at least it's made up of 6 fit and available players:

HF: Fogarty Kennedy Owies
FF: Betts McKay JSOS

Kennedy to play tall as a pseudo CHF, JSOS as 3rd tall.

It hasn't, that's what I'm saying. However it looks like Levi's knee is in need of a rest, and TDK is fit to come back in, so it works perfectly.
So how is it a poor reflection of our coaching team?
