Yeh they rave about Murphy, but honestly I wouldn't be taking their recommendation on anything just yet. Neither of them have won sh*t and they haven't exhibited anything on-field leadership wise either.

Not commenting on his cancer battle as that is something completely different. He has been extremely brave throughout that. This was a purely football comment
Respectful lip service to the previous captain who was still a current player doesn't mean its anything more than just that.

I just hope ther can be a time in the future that Ratts makes a return to Carlton.
It is probably not going to happen in the coaching context.
If it was going to happen, the time was when Bolton time was up. I wanted either Ratts or Vossy then.
Now Ratts at St.Kilda that probably where he will coach out his career. Thankfully we finally landed on Vossy at least.
I wish Ratts well in his career. Just a classy person let down by the likes of Sticks and co. at end of 2012.
Ratts no doubt will be part of the Spirit of Carlton group when his coaching career up so he will return in some form at some point for sure.

So because a player hasn't won anything onfield they can't judge what they feel is a good leader?

How many players from the club have had something good to say about Mick Malthouse (minus Daisy Thomas). The endorsements haven't exactly been glowing since he got the arse.

What about the 2010 Collingwood premiership players? They almost won it back to back too. I know who I'd be listening to

There is no nice way to say it but we have had a pack of soft losers at the club. I wouldn't hold any stock in anything they had to say about football

Anyone watch the the Carlton v Adelaide 2001 Qualifying Final on Fox Footy yesterday.

Dominant display and to think we had some of these big names running around:
Jimmy Plunkett
Mark Porter
Ian Prendergast
Trent Hotton
Scott Freeborn

Jimmy had it 34 times and kicked 2 goals and Prendergast had it 19 times

That was the last hurrah from the last great Carlton team.

Yeah we had some no names, but we still had Braddles, SOS, Campo, Kouta, Fev, McKay, Christou, Allan, Whitnall etc

Would be good if the next 20 years were wiped from AFL records (and memories).

I wonder what the 97/98 Adelaide Crows have to say about Malcolm Blight compared to the 2001 St Kilda side. Just because Mick won a flag at Collingwood doesn't mean he was a good coach/person at Carlton.

He came to our club so he good break the coaching record and to try and get back at Collingwood for moving him on.

It's telling that to make your point you need to compare us to the perennial shit kickers and well known losers Stkilda.

Let's just agree to disagree.

He won flags at 2/3 clubs he coached at. I personally wouldn't be listening to the players from the one team he failed at

Then you need to think. Could I be wrong about Mick and his time at Carlton.

No, the players who were with him day in day out are wrong.

Mick was a ****en disaster at Carlton. The fact that he was a decent coach at other clubs in the past doesn't change that fact.

He was and always was a sh*t coach I could have coached that West Coast team
If anything they under performed
Since when has a premiership player bagged a premiership coach
I’ll Back Murphy over that ego inflated grifter any day he might have you fooled but not me

IN: Swann > Malthouse Book launch during trade period > Butters > Thomas > Jacksh >Whiley > Boekhurst > Menzel etc etc
OUT: Ratten | Waite | Betts | Garlett | Robinson | Yarran

FMD yeah baby Malthou$e was a great coach LOL

Yep.

The club looked for a champion coach to fix any issues they had. The issue was he was done and dusted

The only reason he took the job was to break the most games record.

Disaster of an appointment. Worst thing is we didn't learn from the pagan appointment. It was so similar.

However, others are correct, we have had a weak playing group for so long.

He was senile by the time he got us..

Mick Malthouse, coached 4 clubs his record is not glowing 30 years plus in the caper 3 premierships. Not the stuff of legend. Footscray, wet toast, Slum dwellers and Carlton.
