Not sure if this belongs here, but an article on Tom Williamson about his struggles during his Carlton days and how he's found his love for footy again playing with Ararat.

Aw I liked willo, glad he's happy

God I miss those days…..

Terrible show.

I remember when they had a perplex box around his head and filled it up with mice. He then took off and started wriggling around, throwing them around, to the voice of screeching idiots in the crowd. Probably injured some by zig-zagging around like someone was trying to hit him with an axe.

You don't do that to skittish animals, they don't belong there, especially not next to a bunch of idiots who don't GAF about animal welfare.

He is right though, much more sustainable source
However, this has not been the case in their two finals wins, something Hoyne says is crucial in their hunt for premiership glory.

“Hats off to what Carlton have been able to do in this finals series and change the way that they’ve been able to score in their first two finals,” he told SEN’s Sportsday.
So their stoppage work has actually dropped significantly over the last four (to) six weeks, but their turnover game has improved slightly.

It's more sustainable to slightly improve one area, and significantly drop off in another?

When you have the ball, you stuff it up, and now they have it.
Thansk Stamos...

so 'scoring from turnover' must firstly require good defensive systems and execution to make the opposition 'stuff it up'...

when does a stuff seeing ball to ground and into a contest stop being a turnover?

Or is turnover a straight back to the defender who then goes on to score without anything in between getting ball and scoring?

Scores from turnovers normally make up roughly 2/3s of your output, well for most pointy end sides

We have the added bonus of still being strong and effective at a stoppage
see bove mate- becaue ok you defend and opposition stuffs it up - the ball goes into your hands and you proceed to score or the ball goes to ground and becomes a ground ball contest ...

I mean is a score from turnover a score straight away - without any contest in between?

A score from a turnover, is scoring without the opposition touching it

Like the last goal we kicked on the weekend

Or if we lay a heavy tackle in forward 50, opposition spill the ball and we gather and score from it

Essentially it's a reflection of effective ball movement

It's a combination of good defensive pressure, but also the way you move the ball when you win it back.

Pretty sure stoppage is an actual stoppage (ie centre bounce, ball up, throw in).
So there are 3 sources to score from, stoppage, turnover (they win it at the stoppage or turnover, and then turn it over to you) or kick in.

I've seen it referenced a bit but I must have missed it, what was the bobblehead fiasco?
A few posters were kicking up a stink that some Charlie Curnow bobbleheads ran out, or something like that. I honestly can't remember the full facts tbh.

I think it was that it was meant to be for members only, you were meant to register to be able to get them, but then on the night they just handed them out to whomever, including * supporters, and ran out so that people who were meant to get them missed out.

Interesting. I assume you have the demographic data to prove your claims about the makeup of Carlton members and pokies gamblers? Surely if you're saying it's class warfare you have evidence to prove it.
Revealing a little about myself but no we've never run those datasets together as the AFL doesn't release demo.

Writing a theology assignment and trying to justify how talking about whether Kennedy and SOS as possible 'ins' fits into the Nicaean Council changes made in 325 a.d.
Hmmm
😀
Think there's a nice bit to be done about sayers as st Alexander of Alexandria and Mathieson as Arius, Illyria as the gold coast.

Precisely my question above

Nobody would give a shit normally, but they made you register to get one and then when you showed up there were none left.
Not the end of the world, just poor

Tom Williamson now in a good place...

Moved back home, playing local football, won a premiership (Ararat last won a flag with his dad in the side) and has rediscovered his love of the game. Not interested in coming back to AFL..
