Not disappointed about Leppitsch not being interested. I lost a bit of respect for him this year with his work in the media. His personality put me off a little after initially wanting him in some capacity.
Lost me about his initial comments on player honesty re the review. Hard pass on Looney Leppa.

My favourite Leppitsch moment was when he threw his football boot in frustration because he was getting slaughtered by Lance Whitnall in 2000. Got 9 booted on him.

Carlton should interview Zac O’Brien about Leppitsch.

Sounds like Zac deserved it.

You think someone deserves to be physically assaulted at their workplace, by a boss? Right...
This is why I've never understood why people want Leppa as a head coach, the bloke clearly had issues.
I understand being frustrated at a dick head, but there are other ways of dealing with things, without resorting to violence.

Correct. Physically = verbal. Both are in the wrong. Both muppets. Needless to say, O'Brien didn't get another contract lol.

I wouldn't call shaking someone assault. There's a fine line there.

Which Zac?

Bit is that what happened?

We don't know exactly what happened.

I mean, it's right there in the article.

Leppitsch took the player into the meeting room, where he is understood to have grabbed him by the throat, apparently pinned him against the wall, and yelled at the 24-year-old midfielder, telling O'Brien his behaviour was not acceptable.

Buckenara did a list analysis of the Blues, it's cringeworthy unresearched rubbish, phoned in off the back of doing a couple of good drafts for Hawthorn early this milennium.

For those who can't scale the paywall:

A-grade: Patrick Cripps, Harry McKay

B-grade: Sam Petrevski-Seton , Zac Williams, Liam Jones, Sam Docherty, Lachie Plowman, Caleb Marchbank, Jacob Weitering, Ed Curnow, Adam Saad, Will Setterfield.

C-grade: Jack Silvagni, Marc Murphy (retired), Matthew Kennedy, Lachlan Fogarty, Mitch McGovern, Eddie Betts (retired), Jack Martin, Nic Newman, Zac Fisher, Marc Pittonet, David Cunningham, Charlie Curnow, Tom Williamson, Jack Newnes, Oscar McDonald, Michael Gibbons, Levi Casboult, Matthew Owies, Jordan Boyd.

Walsh is an AB grade, he might be an A or B grader when he turns 22

so many issues with some of these ratings - where to start, probably best to just ignore Buckenara at this point in time.

Weitering and Walsh not A graders. I guess everyone is entitled to an opinion, but you’d think someone who works as a journalist would have some idea. Trash article.

Leppitsch grabbed Lions rookie Zac O'Brien in the meeting room at half-time of the NEAFL match after the young player had been disrespectful to the reserves' coach Shane Woewodin by arguing with him and swearing at him.
"Kouta should've won that Brownlow, you ****in' hack!"

Yeah no thanks, nothing wrong with being a great number 2, history littered with examples.

Hun saying Blues could hold pick 8? Anyone got the article?
because of Darcy & Daicos

it's a take that always pisses me off, yes the picks are 'pushed back' but the players aren't really on the market in the traditional sense, it's a closed auction (for first round talent anyway), all you can do is make the FS/NGA team pay a little more.

We have pick 6 but there may be seven players picked before we can use it is probably too complex for the average footy pundit to comprehend.

Carlton have plenty of A graders. McKay, Weitering, Jones, Walsh and when fit Curnow are amongst the best in the league at what they do which puts them in that A grade category.

Our B graders, the ones who are nearly there but not consistent enough to be A graders and they would be Docherty, Williams (when played back), Cripps and Saad.

Our C graders are those who play a handful of top games and are solid contributors most weeks Silvagni, DeKoning, Curnow, Newnes, Newman, Kennedy, McGovern, Stocker, Plowman and Martin.

Then there are the D graders, they play senior footy but are in and out, rarely in our top players and often in our bottom few. O'Brien, Dow, SPS, Fogarty, Fisher, Pittonet, Williamson, Cuningham, Honey, Owies, Setterfield, Cottrell.

Then E graders who aren't getting games.

At least you can look at most of those players and see potential for most of them to go up a level or two.

I think some of our players have been judged harshly because they play for Carlton and we have had a poor season.

Is the view that we can maybe trade our pick to Coll or WB?

Walsh, Weitering and McKay are A Graders.

Jones isn't A Grade and never will be because he consistently has brain explosions.

Curnow never was A Grade. He could become A Grade but is a loooooong way off it. He never got there before injury.

Docherty is unlikely to ever get back to his best. His form this year was well off. He has been through so much and sadly it has affected his football.

Cripps if injury free should be A Grade.

Williams could be A Grade if he gets fit, admitedly that is a big if.

Saad could be A Grade if he choses to defend first.

Martin could be A Grade if he got fit and showed consistency.
