I have to push back the thoughts that we had the picks to get Houston and he is racking up 22 touches in a praccy game....

And Newman is out for the year....

But we went for the kid who is now out for 12 months.....

This year would have been a whole lot different .....

You've got to include Houston's salary cap damage and his age in your thoughts.
I'm glad we chose Jagga with the single pick(plus next years 1st.), but 2 picks in a strong/deep draft might be the thing that eventually returns to haunt us.

Dan Houston could’ve done his ACL in pre season if he’d come to us too. Then it would be proper doomsday

Whenever talking to someone new, does anybody else dread the inevitable question of "Who do you follow in the footy?"

The answer is usually followed by a joke, a smirk or an inadvertent look of pity.

I miss the days when people would ask and you could answer with a sense of pride. Hopefully one day we'll all be able to answer and be met with a covetous gaze rather than the typical jeers.

I'm glad we got jagga too...

I was just being hypothetical...

We did a masterstroke last year to get him...just plain bad luck...which we seem to have plenty of....

Seems every preseason lately we lose someone or two to an ACL...

I tell them proudly and if they carry on I tell them to get stuffed. Usually while drinking from my Carlton water bottle.

Meanwhile, Cripps is one year closer to he end.

Devils advocate: what if Voss isn't the guy?

How much leeway does he get before we head in a bother direction while Cripps is still a force?

I think it’s interesting to also note, Graham Wright becomes the CEO at the end of the year and he didn’t chose Vossy.

In fact he ran Collingwood’s coaching selection and chose McRae over Vossy.

So maybe if things don’t go to plan this year, new ceo and new president might make a change?

It would be the perfect timing one way or the other

Wouldn't be surprised if Wright spends some time in weekly player/coaches meetings and in the box game day

Would there be any interest in Horse if he was available?

I always talk proudly when I declare my love for the Blues.

The only time I took umbrage was on a walk around Binna Burra in my Carlton hat in 2022 when we had made a good start to the season, and some campaigner I came across called me a “bandwagoner.” I let him have it about following the club for forty years.

Really?

I think our biggest problem is self-belief.

**** the rest.

It's a good point. You would think if this year implodes his papers will be stamped quick smart.

We are still a big four club, but our recent suffering needs to have purpose, 30 years is long enough and that gets pointed to me regularly

Yes, we wouldn’t have had the kid for the next 15 years because we chose the bloke who will be done in the next 3-4 years… with the added bonus that it would destroy all hope of affording TDK. We made the correct decision.

Club this morning got TDK to watch the Stains v Port game. By quarter time TDK called SOS and said “no deal”… then proceeded to sign on the dotted line for a 6 year extension.

I just don’t know why you would even contemplate going to that s***stain of a club.

There is nothing that club can offer other than money but money never buys you happiness.

Like every other player before him, TDK isn’t contemplating going to St Kilda. He will look at the offer out of respect but that’s it.

I don't think that's that shocking tbh. We snuck in last season and from the outside looking in, we didn't really improve the list all that much. We also got rid of the small forward that kicked a chunk of our goals.

I think there's improvement in the list/game plan but I certainly don't think anyone is hating on us by claiming we won't make the 8.

We did have a really bad injury list towards the end of last year, even Doc’s first game was the final, with a healthyish list I would expect us to make the 8
