is vossy in trouble if we don't improve this year or will the injuries save him again
I really don’t know, but if our injuries end up being in the ‘not to bad’ category throughout the year and we somehow still miss the eight, then I feel like there be a ton of heat on him.
The media will drive the narrative

The media may well drive the narrative but will Carlton do Old Carlton things or will New Carlton stay the course?
I feel like they will back Vossy in.
I note a few tipsters dont have us finishing in the 8 so the narrative may have already started.

yeah no one's seeing us make it either

I hope not

Besides, who else is out there that is more likely to improve the results?

Can we afford another side step to a different HC?

I’m all in on sticking with Voss. PA have managed a much more challenging narrative for much longer

Let the whole club grow into success

It depends on how the game plan stacks up.

Defensively we fell apart back end of the season. I wouldn't want a repeat.

Back Vossy in and continue to build around him. If we don’t play finals this year and have a bad year no doubt he will be under immense pressure but I hope we stick fat with Vossy and have better coaches around him.

Would love to see us add Hinkley as director of coaching next year.

Maybe Kenny can also bring Butters with him 😉

Getting rid of a Kennedy was just stoopid -not Tuohey levels of stoopid just about 65% of that level stoopid.
Cooper Lord replaced Kennedy, who himself had long term injury issues. We've now got the Campo twins and Cincotta providing the next tier of midfield depth.

We're not devoid of other options to try experimenting with either. If we get another LTI in that mix, we go to the mid-season draft.
Let’s not overlook the slow start to 2024 by the premiers. Was it form, or were they less “screwed down” physically early, building to the business end.
Back-to-back grand finalists is a feature of that answer.

As I have totally forgotten the particulars of the trade, what and how did we use what we got for this years 1st round pick? I’d like to think it was for HOF and points for the Camporeale brothers?

I want us to give blocks of 3 games to young players who make will make us better long term & who I believe are equal to the mid tier and veteran players. First off the rank for Richmond: Moir, Lord, Carrol.

Holding Voss to a standard isn’t Carlton doing old Carlton things and keeping an underperforming coach isn’t some new Carlton thing.

This is Voss fourth season, our previous 3 have had some strong moments but a lot of questionable moments and there has been some reasons for these but Voss still has to show he’s a good coach and right man for the job, missing finals might not be a deal breaker but a team of our age and experience should be going backwards 3 seasons in a row.

We need to make good decisions and not worry about this old Carlton, new Carlton BS

What we do know is that Sayers has moved on and Cook will do the same.
New leadership I find often like to put their imprint on an organisation.

Meanwhile, Cripps is one year closer to he end.

Devils advocate: what if Voss isn't the guy?

How much leeway does he get before we head in a bother direction while Cripps is still a force?

Side has underperformed, inconsistent at times, not all Voss's fault, but a coach is ultimately responsible to galvanise a group

4th season, if any player hasn't bought in, that comes back on the coaching department

nah, they'll stick with voss.

they'll cut the list back and do a mini rebuild before they'd sack him imo.

voss (and very much cripps) are trying to drive incredibly high standards. the coach is a hard arse. if certain players can't handle it - which some have shown they struggle with it - they'll be moved on, rather than the coach.

This is so very Carlton - with the season just 2 weeks away (and a relatively healthy list) most clubs supporters would be full of positivity but we spend our time stressing about whether the coach will be sacked.

I would prefer to discuss how many time Kemp took a mark inside 50 in the VFL practice match vision or how good Motlop looked on Saturday (be in physique and performance)

Also, a kid who hasn’t even played a game of senior AFL football being out for the season has suddenly turned us from being top 4 to not even making the 8. It’s madness

After watching the practice match last week I had already come to the conclusion Smith wasn't going to impact too much for us this year - great when he gets the ball but very light - but others apparently saw a player who was going to be a game changer?

Elijah Hollands and Adam Cerra are the mids that are going to decide how far we go this year IMO.

I think he would’ve been fantastic for us this season, easily could’ve been rising star and been the pick of the bunch from last years draft. But it’s a bit insane to expect a 19 year old to suddenly turn us into a premiership contender. I was super keen on him this season though

Don't get me wrong I believe he will be a very good player - but agree he wasn't going to move the needle to far this year.

A year in rehab building his body won't hurt him in the long run

Will easily win the rising star next year.
