Well he certainly copped a few roastings on game day for just a development coach, anyway im not having a go a his intellect or playing career.

Where did he play most of his football to a pretty bloody high level? Forward.. why you wouldn't u have him in charge of the forwards is beyond me... Great kick to i believe, send him to casboult?

Id much rather have someone of the West or Ling calibre as our midfield coach someone who knows all the ins and outs and id imagine could develop the players slightly better.

Should have perhaps worded it better now ive reread it, was simply stating his 'knowledge' could be better served in a different area of player group.

sorry i upset you all.

He actually only went forward at the end of his career, he played as a midfielder for the majority of his career, and at a pretty high level

drafted as a forward, may have played up the ground.. but was a fwd.
From 2003 - 2010 he averaged 389 disposals per season, which points to him playing mostly in the midfield for those seasons.

FWIW, Jezza was recruited as a forward, but from 1972 to 1979 played predominantly in the centre & then as a defender (& starred in these positions as well).

Greg Swann mentioned on SEN that the Blues are close to signing another assistant coach but didnt allude to who it was.....didnt give much away when Scott West was mentioned.

Said no to Neeld - no other names mentioned.

It's actually a wise move for Bassett.

He'd have a pretty good idea that Hird won't be coaching again and Thompson doesn't want to do it anyway.

I think Hird coming back is an absolute formality.

Of course the logical thing is for both parties to move on in separate directions, but it's illogical to suggest that logic is high on their agenda. It hasn't been for quite some time....why start now? :)

Mick has always built and surrounded himself in quality assistants, and I'd expect nothing less at his fourth gig as the senior coach

Apparently is a massive figjam in the SANFL, so probably wasn't the man for the Job.

OPERATION SOS better be commencing right this minute.

Out - Brown & Green
IN - SOS & Kouta.

In my dreams I know, but I just couldn't contain the excitement.

What about reuniting John Worsfold with Malthouse and getting whoosha to take Green's spot?

Personally think he's a better option than Scott West imo.

Bassett signed at essendon wtf!! :/

I know... it shocked me that such a reputable coach at state league level would even consider going to that shithole of a club. There is no possible explaination except that they threw a load of money at him.

Agree with part A but not part B. Think Bomber is ready for another stint and that is Essendon's good luck because he is a great coach.

Hird on the other hand will get whacked by ASADA I reckon, and that will be that for his coaching career. Hope so anyway. And they may not be finished with Bomber so perhaps Bassett is insurance for that possibility.

Time will tell, but only slowly...

Get John to be our back line coach.
