As the cup heads to Ireland again one must pay tribute to the old man of Australian racing in George Hanlon. The man is over 80 and managed to bring home Mr Prudent in second place which is a fine result.

Everyone must accept that unless the standard of Australian stayers improves this will be a regular experience. The worst news is that most would never have raced on a track that firm so imagine it if they hit a slow track.

1. Media Puzzle
2. Mr. Prudent
3. Beekeeper
--------
4. Vinnie Roe

Big run from Beekeeper. Three wide most of the way, quite similar to Persian Punch's placing a couple of years ago.

All credit to Dermot Weld. The man knows his stuff. Nice to see Oliver win too. He handled himself very well before, during, and after the race. A true pro.

that was the most emotional, most courrageous, most inspirational ride ive ever seen - once i saw them turn for home i knew damiend would win so i was cheering as hard & loud as i could. im so pleased for Ollie & it was a special moment ill neva forget!

a good horse, a great trainer and a greater jockey

WHATTA WIN

:D

Bloody Vinnie Roe - Missed out on the box trifecta by one place :(

1) Media Puzzle
2) Mr Prudent
3) Vinnie Row

Great win to Damien Oliver and Media Puzzle though, he must have had nerves of steel to focus on the race like he did today.

The only reason I bet on Media Puzzle was the Damien factor it was almost as if he was destined to win.
Kinda makes you think that another force had allot to do with that victory

P.S Yes I know he was favourite but I mean it was predicted to rain and it didnt like it all came together on the day
Ok Ok Ill admit it I need to believe that what happens in our lives happens for a reason.

Similar to a quinella, although with an exacta you have to specify which horse will finish first and which will finish second

All credit to Dermott Weld, what a performance.

As for Olly, it's all been said. Ice cool performance.
How he kept it together is beyond me.

Interesting that the 2 O/S horses in the placings both had lead up runs in Australia before the Great Race.
As well as local riders.

Seth.
