As the title suggest this is the tread whereby we discuss the possibility of possible targets come years end. As our strategy is to give fringe players a chance i'll get the ball rolling by suggesting some names:

Levi casboult
Tom Gillies
Ricky Henderson
Shaun Mckernan
Sam Blease
Alex Silvagni
Nick Suban
Rohan Bewick
Aaron Cornelius
Luke Rounds
Tom Ledger
Tom Simpkin
Charlie Dixon
Jayden Post

Do you mean Joe Daniher? Cause he's going to the Bombers as a F/S. He could have picked us too...

If we weren't relatively well stocked with tall defenders, I'd be getting into Alex Silvagni.

I rate Aaron Cornelius too. Not getting to show all his wares in a poor Brisbane team but I reckon he has a lot of ability if he can improve his fitness and running.

I don't think we need too much more padding of our list in that I don't think we need many more mid tier players. If we could go out and get a star like a Goddard or Cloke, I'd obviously be all for it. But I think we have relatively solid depth with our mid tier players.

He could play anywhere on the ground the kids a gun, is he a definite for the Dons? Id throw the kitchen sink at him...

Kitchen sink and then some. Won't he happening. It was between us and Essendon to get the F/S rights to him. We could have had him and Sammy Reid for the next decade.

I don't mind Charlie Dixon, but he does remind me a bit of Jesse. All the athletic tools in the world but just doesn't seem to have the footy brain to go with them. Although he is playing in a much younger and less quality side so perhaps I'm too quick to judge. Could be a star.

Port won't be letting him go without a fight. I think he would cost a lot. Port would know he is their next ruckman.

Nope they hav lobbe who is 23ish and they traded Renouf last year and he's only 25ish, plus primus doesnt like playing two full time rucks (part timer stewart/ ruck-forward)

Plus redden has been there for 3 yrs or so, maybe he might want to leave casue he doesn't think he has a future there

From your list membling.

Levi casboult - No
Tom Gillies - No chance
Ricky Henderson - Adelaide as we saw have their list almost complete and wont be giving away too much. This boy is not leaviong the club
Shaun Mckernan see above
Sam Blease - perhaps but non plussed
Alex Silvagni - Yes, yes and yes and a deal could be achievable, the right sort of hard nose working defender who could be suited to us.
Nick Suban (Suban, Blease added to Rohan, how many broken legs do you want at this club)
Rohan Bewick - looks good but not impacting on matches in a meaningful way so no.
Aaron Cornelius - Worth a sniff to see if Brisbane would let him go.
Luke Rounds - This is a clever idea. With the Collinmgwood team and his age, not getting game time possibly playing as a rotating as a mobile forward.
Tom Ledger - Saints have big plans for him and he wont be leaving
Tom Simpkin - Nothing we havent got.
Charlie Dixon - You look at him and say yes but than you think about giving someone away for him and the answer is no. more observation required
Jayden Post - NO[/QUOTE]

People might think i am crazy here but what about trading for Colin Sylvia. The guy is super talented and i think all he needs is to be in a team with a strong culture and he would be a very dangerous midfielder.

Syvia can be very lazy and disinterested. Does he deserve to be in the team with a good culture or is he part of the culture problem?

He is certainly part of the culture problem at Melbourne but it takes more than one player to create a culture problem. I think if Syliva was at a club with a strong culture our culture would almost force him to play more at his potential as unlike Melbourne our coaches wouldn't put up with half arsed efforts on the field.

Just throwing up a few ideas cas with players that fit the mold of our trading model. All have some upside and wouldnt be overly expensive.

The thing about these players is they all have potential to get so much better. May as well get the ball rolling.

But on redden, i highly doubt we'd be able to pry him from port without paying over.

Sylvia has merit but yes crazy, think he may go under the d******* policy.

What need could Sylvia fill for us? I don't see him making us a better team at all.

Many will cringe at this idea, but if we're struggling for some forward flair then maybe we could lure Alan Didak for a couple of years? Just throwing it out there.

I think our list is now at the stage where we should trade for need, rather than player availability/depth.

Just as an example using RUNVS post above.
Where would Sylvia fit into our team and how much would we have to pay?
He seems to me to be in many ways to be a Jude Bolton clone.
A midfielder who is comfortable in the forward line.
But where would he be in our rotation?
Jude might be in his last year, but hopefully Mitchell will be ready next year and we have a number of mids who can go forward as well.
It seems to me a player like Sylvia is a 'luxury' we don't need, particulalry as we would have to trade for him (contracted to the end of 2013).

The 2012 draft is supposed to be a potentially best ever.
I'd be reluctant to trade away picks unless it is very much needs based.

At this stage our midfield has proven depth, other areas less so.
Will we find out if guys like White, TDL, Pyke are good enough to be best 22?
Monitor the progress of Lockyer & Brown. Will they be ready by 2013 if Ted, Reg or even LRT go down?

I think it is too early to determine where our greatest needs will be for 2013 and onwards.

At this stage my feeling is that trading will not be high on our agenda at the end of this year, unless things go pear shaped.
I'd be more inclined to think we'll use our draft picks and perhaps look at the free agents.

I wouldnt mind us having a crack at Sidebottom or Shaun Higgins thoughts? Have to give away 2 picks for them 1st and 3rd rounder

Maybe even trade for Jack Watts he is good enough but lets face it his team is shit! offer up our 1st and 2nd pick.
Give it a couple years with Sam Reid and Jack watts together we'd be going ok

Sylvia ! ask Roos what he thinks of him, there is no way we would ever consider this downhill skier.
What we might need is an Aaron Davey, out of favour at Melbourne and might need a change, very good played at his best and would give us more goalkicking options. He would also fill a role that McGlynn is supposed to be doing.

Davey Like him but he'd have to be 29-30
