That I agree with but I don't think the Swans ever claimed that either would become key defenders.
Fair point. If I was being honest I'd say neither will play 50 games for the club, but then I'd get attacked for hating on our players just like with Currie, Meredith, Barlow and White

cambell traded to port for a late pick
Our list has some serious issues at the moment. Zero key defender depth, zero inside midfield depth unless Mitchell is fit, Jesse White the only reserve ruckman and is undersized for that position at AFL level.

We had a blessed run with injuries this year, but if 1-2 players go down in these areas we are up that particular creek without a paddle.

yes, shame about heath but i guess he's going to get more of a run at port with jacobs and chaplin taking off.

we still have a few selections in the draft to work something out.

Swans player Campbell Heath will move to Port Adelaide for a late draft pick and Lewis Stevenson from West Coast is also likely to move to Port Adelaide for a pick in the 70s.
Port has pick 72, that will be going to West Coast if the article is accurate. The pick before that is 31, very much doubt that's coming for Cambo, and the next one is 90 which we would have no use for. Sounds like we're just helping Cambo getting to his club of choice, again based on the assumption that he wants to go to Port for more senior games next year.

But we'd never do that? We're a completely and utterly selfish and unethical club who try to rip all other clubs off.

Stevenson just went for 88, so 72 is still available :D :(
Excellent, that might deliver a player like Tristen Walker, Brad Fisher, Adrian Deluca, Blake Grima, Will Young, or my personal favourite - Pass

Are we saying Lamb got the chop? I would be absolutely stewing over this, Sam Kekovich says Hi

Agreed

Too busy pissing about with the tippett trade instead of looking at role players it seems.

Even with Tippett, getting rid of white leaves us short of backup options

For pick 90 I'd guess?

He's had some lousy luck with injuries, right?

You blokes confident he has put them behind him?

He played every reserves game this year

Dylan McNeil, Jarred Moore and Jackson Potter were the other 3 FWIW

Ruptured the same ACL twice (once in 2009 and again in 2011) but, from all reports from our resident observers and the coaches, he seemed to recover very well and played a very strong year in the 2's this year. Was pretty much the key defender and controlled the defence. Was promoted to the senior list on the eve of the finals as an insurance policy I suspect just in case one of our defenders went down. Shows the coaches had confidence in him and his body, so much so they were happy for him to play finals if necessary.

He will do well for you I believe. I'm really confident of that.

To attract role players you need somewhere to play them, a spot they can make their own but you cant attract players if its likely they wont play senior footy. For this reason and limited funds Hawthorn lost 2 depth players this year.

Proven players like Spangher and LRT are both capable of playing as key defenders, Armstrong on the wing or running defender and LRT can also play in the ruck when needed especially if we recruit Tippett
or keep Jesse White.

In the midfield we can rotate Goodes Mattner Shaw and several others as cover and Parker can spend more time there.

Walsh White Armstrong Lamb Mitchell Cunningham Biggs TDL Gordon Everitt and Rohan are all pushing for senior games next year with McGlynn to return and Parker to spend more time as a inside mid.

Its not great depth and a couple of these players could still be delisted or traded but when you consider the very low level of injuries we have enjoyed for the last ten years its not encouraging for players who are looking for a new club.

I hadn't seen Heath play, but going from the board there were some nice wraps about him. Gutted he never got the chance here to be honest. But maybe he was told that he would have found it hard to get a game ahead of Malceski, Shaw and Mattner as well as Armstrong in 2013 and decided it was time to leave. All the best to him.

When was the last time we didn't trade a player in? 2001?
We will bring someone in over the next few hours. Some no-hoper of 190-195cm

If only we had targeted Ben Reid with the crazy money we could have recruited him cheaply and gotten one back at Collingwood who have bent us over in the past.
