Yep just watched the fight. Looked overweight, came in at around 260lbs. Never was in the fight.

I'm wondering if his, um, difficulties with clenbuterol previous to this meant he couldn't strip the extra weight off? He did have a noticeable belly today, wonder if he changed his supplement routine? Either way he was never really in it, made Whyte look like a destroyer.

Disappointing that Fox isn't airing the Hurd-Lara card. Really wanted to see that unification bout.

We'll have to see if Canelo turns up overweight to the fight with GGG. :P

From all reports that one has been canned now due to his suspension & BJS is loudly putting his hand up to be Golovkin’s new opponent.

There is a commission hearing on April 10th to finalize a verdict.

Either Canelo’s excuse of “tainted meat” is accepted as a viable reason or he is carded for an indefinite time.

It’s pretty much 6 of one and half a dozen of the other right now but if boxing wants to be taken seriously on drug restrictions then Canelo is gaaawn.

Well it looks like it'll be canceled. Theyre offering refunds.
Would be simply charming if it went ahead and GGG starched him early tho.

I fcukin’ HATE roid cheats.

BJS and GGG would be a good smash too tho.

I mean Lemieux is mid tier at best but Saunders made him look flat footed all night.

I think we are in need of a general boxing discussion thread, mainly due to the facts that a) there are many great fights and things going on within the world of boxing that aren't deserving of their own threads and b) if threads were to be made on some of those topics, they would likely generate no more than a handful of responses.

As such, this is it :thumbsu:

Where to start?

Well, after yesterday's performance, I think Nonito Donaire is a great place to start. He is one of the best out there at the moment, and I would probably rank him #3 P4P right now, behind Pacquiao and Martinez. That might be a little bit controversial, but I place him ahead of Floyd simply due to the fact that Floyd is largely inactive at the moment. Moreover, after seeing him completely demolish a great fighter in Montiel on Sunday afternoon, it's hard not to place him somewhere close to the top of the tree.

I'm not sure who he will move on to next, we'll have to wait and see, but he appears to be destined for greatness as we speak.

I don't pay to view boxing on fox, out of principle. I already pay.
But I have got a couple of free bees in the last week, but last night I saw a fight between a Kiwi named Parker and a Russian I think , not sure, called Hughie Fury, the fight was from from 2017, for a heavy weight title of some kind.

What I need to ask you boxing followers out there is , are either of these blokes worth calling world class?

Fury back peddled all night, thew out the long jab, missed just about every thing he threw, mind you I only caught it from the 5th or 6th round, but I thought it was one of the most pathetic boxing matches I 've seen. Parker was only just a little better, but missed all the time too.

But I've watched this Parker fellow in the past , he fought a huge over weight bloke once a year or so ago maybe more, and he won that fight , but he never ever seemed to me to be able to hurt or even hit hard on any one that was up to his "standard??" even.

I call his fighting bruise free I guess. His opponents may be no better.

I am really curious to get opinions from others, last night on TV (from last year ) he won this fight, but one score card gave him a draw, the Fury fellow , barely landed anything , maybe three punches in all the rounds that I saw, a pretty pathetic fight, if this is the result of having four boxing controlling bodies , then it needs consolidating.

As I watched I thought Mike Tyson or Joe Frasier would have killed either of these two, early.

I even laughingly though Tyson could have fought both of them , not one after the other, but at the same time and knocked them both senseless, ha ha !

Any one know the history of these two, and how they get called world champions. I reckon , and I'm serious , Danny Green could knock one of those fellows over.

Hughie Fury is Tyson Fury’s brother and is from the UK.

Parker is in a world heavyweight unification title bout tomorrow night vs Anthony Joshua in Cardiff.

But yes I agree, neither are much chop if you compare to the likes of Tyson or Frazier.

Hell, those 2 would make short work of the entire division ATM.

Really depends of what Tyson we're talking about. If it's late 1980's Tyson, then he would beat any heavyweight of any era. But if we're talking about 1990's Tyson who was snorting cocaine with hookers, then I'm not so sure he can beat Wilder or AJ.

To be fair, name a single boxer on the planet right now that could go with prime Tyson? Joshua would be too stiff and is a bit chinny and probably go down pretty early. Wilder would be floored within one round due to his sloppy windmill technique.

Parker is alright and still really young. I think i'm one of the only people betting on him to beat AJ, I think he might give him trouble.

Ah ffs I hate when so many boxing fans say this. Wilder is actually a decent boxer. He doesn't just come out of his corner swinging wildly. He times himself, and when he manages to rock his opponent, then he goes in for the kill with the windmills.

He might not beat some of the previous great HW's, but he sure as hell won't be floored in one round.

I disagree mate. I genuinely think he's a pretty average technician with sledgehammer on his hands. Each to their own so I'm not going to fight you on it.

Well no one really likes to use the lesser version of Tyson for comparison but even then I wouldn’t say he’d be a push over for those two.

Hell, even Lennox had to exercise extreme caution when fighting that excuse of a man who got into the ring calling himself Tyson such was the danger the guy still posed.

Anyone catch the Parker v Joshua face-off? Parker is quite a small heavyweight.

Look you'll know him better than me , but his fighting has no bite.
Whats happened to the big time topline American heavyweights and the Russians or Ukraine fighters they all seem to be disappearing too.

Do you think maybe the world associations /organisations will ever go back and unify this sport, unfortunately for me I love it (boxing) but UFC is a blight on combat sports, like a pub brawl.
Boxing has some class.

No mate talking in boxing terms , Tyson was a demon. A boxing terrorist.
