.... The shakes head moment was this gem he finished with, "actually there was some further work planned next weekend, but that's now been put in the backburner."

I'm mean really!
Yeah, that is so bad. It obviously should have been "on the back burner".

we've been going up there with gloves on for years now lol. that is so weird. it's so blatantly "here's your back page for the week port now shut up!". i mean... it's real? it's actually real!..

Rucci taking the piss (surely) with this comment about "luck"...

Tippett has been lucky in how he has not drawn the same attention put on fellow out-of-contract players Travis Boak at Port Adelaide.
Each case is different, but each should have the same spotlight on them.

... Rucci, buddy, you're the chief football editor, remember !

It's also pretty obvious that Boak is currently under-contract ... but, heck, using out-of-contract everytime single time you refer to Boak sounds so much better than actually writing "out-of-contract at season's end" - or something equally factual!

I guess you're expecting your readers to somehow differentiate between "fact", "implied fact", "personal opinion", "rumour/other person's opinion", "outright made up bs".

What is now becoming known as the "Rucci Boak backflip", which was a closely related but less contorted version of the "Rucci Primus backflip" ...

"Boak's impending new deal with Port is a major victory and continues the Power's successful hold in the past 18 months on non-South Australian draftees amid concern of an exodus."

Surely even the camry lovers must cringe at that shit.

Giving all of the controversy surrounding the late Michael Jackson they thought they'd associated Port players wearing one glove with Wacko Jacko. I guess no one at The Advertiser has ever seen a game of baseball.

He's at it again...

But those who have caught on to the need for putting Port's football department under the microscope are - like the King of Id - already preparing the gallows.
Execute the football operations chief, Peter Rohde.
Sack the fitness coach, Cam Falloon.
Dump the recruiting manager, Geoff Parker.
Get rid of the coach, Matthew Primus.
Hang the club president, Brett Duncanson.
Dismiss the board ...

He's getting all his info from here, i'm sure of it...

Though he has got all of his understanding from BigFooty.

The article isn't wrong.

I agree; the article isn't wrong. What is annoying though is that Rucci constantly calls for a review but will never stick his neck out and make calls on where, exactly, the problems are. Who should go Rooch? C'mon mate, who's at fault? Who should get the knife?

You're right.

Rory said:
Is it possible to sack everyone from the CEO down to the boot studder (well not that far). The clubs ******. Absolute fresh start is needed with no traces of the previous regime/disaster.

S.Patrol.G said:
Judging by the amount of times our players fall over, even the boot studder should be under pressure.

Lightning Rod said:
And as for off field staff, no ones position is safe at all, not even the boot studder.

Maybe, just maybe, Rooch isn't smart enough to actually make a comment/decision on who should go etc. He is only a journalist after all - you don't have to have many brain cells to do that, particularly now that there is the beast called the Interthingy.

I am certainly no Rucci fan but on this one I reckon he is being a little misunderstood.

The reason he isnt saying who to sack or not sack is because that's what an independant review is for. Let the review take place THEN make the changes that are necessary AFTER the review has identified the problem areas. And to be honest, he isnt wrong.

however

1 Will we have a full independant review
2 WHO should do the review

50 posters on BF could have written the same piece - that's all I'm saying. There is no substance, just a few sentences stating the obvious - an often repeated article over the last couple of years.

Ok, its not how I interpreted your post and yeah you are right, it isnt a hugely informative or an overly analytical piece of journalism.
However I was more or less saying the reason he isnt commenting on who should go is because he believes noone is in a position to make that call until the review has been completed. It would be hypocritical to doexactly what he is complaining about, people lining the gallows before the review has even been given the go ahead.

Yeah sure, perhaps he should give it a rest as it does start to sound like a broken record after a while however personally, I hope he keeps pushing the review barrow loud and hard.

So Port never met with Wangas through the 96 season?

Shit by Geelong agreed.

But, everyone has done it before. Maybe not quite as obviously but still........

Maybe they did, maybe they didn't, the point is, they never did in public so never got seen, and hence there was no issue.

Just ignore West Coasts big injury toll and focus on the Crows injury woes so it's seen as an 'even' win

Since switching off 5aa and not buying/reading The Advertiser/AdelaideNow I feel happier, healthier and smarter.

I recommend you try it for yourself and if you're not fully satisfied after 7 days I'll post you a pair of knitting needles, no questions asked.
