I never buy it are you saying i should ? West Coast arrogance something i would not have expected in the West , The Arrogance of West Coast supporters is undeniable , The way they carry on you would swear that they are some sort of power club dominating the comp year in year out , Where as the truth is they have been middle tier for most of the last 20 or so years definitely since we have been in the comp . They have won the one premiership of course by a point which of course they rub our noses in every chance they get . How unbearable would they be if they were as good as say Hawthorn have been in that same period?

What caused this unbelievable turnaround you ask?

When the WC security pushed the cameramen around after they had already been given permission to record Notacluey from a distance.

The coach and Nesbitt then blamed the media knowing full well of the agreement to record.

It took a week before WC could be dragged into an apology and only after other programs like media watch joined in.

This is why they are asking questions about arrogance because they treated their own friendly media with total arrogance like they owned them.

This is what it is about, but I doubt that the hometown media outrage will last.

I heard talking footy was very pro Gaff. Anyone watch?
I saw it. It was basically just Carey saying it was an accident and what a good bloke Gaff was. They're friends who just played golf together. Hardly mentioned the damage to Brayshaw. I wasn't particularly surprised given Carey's history and how after all his F ups he wanted all to be forgiven and get back to being hero worshiped and making easy $$$ in the media.

They seem genuinely shocked when the West media occasionally go after them. Like "but don't you know who you're dealing with? We're always being attacked". Ross and the rest of the Dockers would just be rolling their eyes.

Loving the editorial in the West, as well as Duffield's article. About time Seven West stood up to the arrogant campaigners and rampaging flogbeans.

Did anyone watch 360 and/or On the Couch?

Was pretty funny how Simpson went from a scripted mealy-mouthed answer to downright offended and calling Basil 'mate' like it was some outrageous attack. LOL. Pretty much proved the 'arrogance' charge by his reaction.

On the couch spent the first 10 minutes having a pot shot at Hamish for not having a red card system.

The general consensus from Brown/Roos/Healy was it was an appalling incident. Roos said 7 weeks and out for the rest of the season was a given - he was thinking more about how far above 7 they should go.

speaking of flogbeans, Wikipedia has already been updated.

From my reading of the situation, I think the media were non plussed with the adulation for Gaff after his goal, even though by then they reckon that most supporters knew Gaff was a villain. That is the breaking twig that damaged the tree.

The other thing is that the Brayshaws are pretty well sporting royalty, and I reckon Sticks probably mentored a lot of the journo's around the sporting media. Sticks is still very highly respected in the media ( author of many sporting bio's ) and sporting circles. By hitting "baby" Brayshaw, he was doing an act like trying to kill Bambi.

I think more needs to be made of the decision to not show replays of the incident and Brayshaw’s face at the ground. Although I find it hard to believe the vast majority of the crowd had no clue what had occurred, the outcome of the crowd treating Gaff as a hero was terrible. I can understand the desire to minimise showing graphic images of injury, but the incident itself was not overly graphic and one or two showings of Andy’s face was appropriate. Being at a game and being unaware of the worst incident in AFL/VFL in 30 years is ridiculous.

PS. Andy was having a great game and I hope he recovers well.

Couldn't agree more. Not defending the Eagles crowd but there was no replay, which i find perplexing, given the screens are massive state of the art screens that are there to help tell the story of what's happening on the ground. That was crucial to the game and they didn't play it. Talk about Big Eagle Brother, I'm not sure it would have changed the behavior of the 95% Eagle crowd, but given the rest of Australia knew what had happened and the 55,000 that paid full price to be at the game didn't, smacks of self serving censorship.

On a different tact, that Eagle game day experience from the moment they run out of that jumpy castle to that eagle landing, it all seemed quite childish as if they were trying to appeal to an imbecile or moron. I felt like a gimp just being there. Game day experience takes a delicate touch to do right but theirs it downright cringe worthy. Just my thoughts.

I have posted a couple of times about the lack of replay of the incident. I don't know if the Eagles were directly responsible for not showing it, but it was a terrible decision. It lead to the crowd treating Gaff as a hero (as did the Eagles team) which gives a truly shocking impression. The impression watching the TV coverage was that the crowd was proud of Gaff for his smashing of Brayshaw.

That's often the way in world sport because replays of a violent incident can anger the crowd. A pie and a coke bottle weren't going to do much damage to Josh Carr but there is that history there with supporters throwing objects at players in previous derbies.

A drunken Freo supporter throwing objects at Gaff on the bench creates more headlines.

I'm glad the afl community has finally got to see what the eagles are all about ,they have oozed an air of narcissistic arrogance for years ,from the CEO down they have disgraced not just the AFL but all sport ,hang your bloody heads in shame

Well said AJ, you need to post more often.
