That's not the point. The question is: what was the process?

Disappointing to give such a soft goal away so late in the game and would have been fantastic to finally end the away streak, but most would have been happy with a point heading in. Heart has picked up four points after trailing in the past fortnight, after only managing one point from games we'd trailed since the start of 2012/13. Good for Kewell and Kisnorbo to pick up goals as well.

Still a lot of momentum for next week against a Sydney FC team that looks ripe for the taking. It will be interesting to see what sort of crowd we get.

There's a big dose of reality in there. Anyone not expecting major changes is kidding themselves.

In a few years Heart will be about as fondly remembered as the Brisbane Bears - assuming anyone actually remembers them.

Not sure if you dig around you may find something but I don't think approve was needed from the other clubs The club may have consulted with it's members that's about it not that the members would have had any say in the matter.

Kewell BOG again.

He's on Sam Mitchell in the 2002 Liston pace. Wasn't really happy with the mini spat between him and Wielaert after the final whistle though. Thought it wasn't really necessary, especially not in front of the cameras.

Good to see Germano back as well. I'm still not sold on him, but got to admire his perseverance, having not played for as long as Engelaar.

They mentioned this in the initial presser, I think. It was suggested that it would happen (they were more adamant about that than pretty much anything else), either in May, or August.

Come to think of it, Simon Hill mentioned it in his online chat. Reliable source, as he'd been the man who'd spoken to more of the major players than anyone at that stage. I remember it, because one person wrote in to say that it would be an excellent idea to give members first crack at tickets. Given the demand that will be sparked if City brings anything resembling its first team along, I think that would be a brilliant idea.

Doubt it, Melbourne Victory are in institution in this town, if anything it represents a golden opportunity for MV to hype themselves as the true local Australian owned club, smart angle to work with.

The popularity of the epl is massive in Australia, people who follow it do so with as much if not more passion then the A league clubs they follow, the reality is the majority of people here follow man u, liverpool, arsenal, chelsea....man city are a fair way down the chain, so Melbourne City wont be able to automatically buy its way to success instantly. I think it needs to start off with modest expectations.

You can keep talking about membership figures and crowds etc. but as long as Muscat is your coach you will achieve nothing. Success on the field will only breed more success off the field. Soon enough we'll be filling out AAMI and then you'll have nothing over us.

Its only a continuation if they want it to continue..they dont which is why the name change will be the first order of business, the heart franchise has been sold, brand city is coming, the owners dont have to listen to anyone, its their club now...the ceo is right they dont want it to be a mini city...they want it to be large city! Heart will suffer the same fate as the ny metrostars when red bull bought them. We are in this position now because Heart failed, by all means get on board the new franchise...just understand thats what it will be.

Dude you can't seriously believe this... the names been registered... Gallop was asked about a change of colours and logo and said "oh yeah we'd be open to that". It's all already been decided.

This is a piece of global branding by Man City. They want the Heart's license and stadium contract, that's it. Whether the 5k or so Heart fans want to support it or not is basically immaterial in the whole thing.

There would be about five Man City supporters among the Victory membership, maybe an exaggeration, but they do not make up a large group in Melbourne. Even Melbourne Chelsea with 300 Facebook members in is just a small drop in the ocean among the Victory support, and indeed many of them are Heart fans. I get the Newton Heath into ManU example later, but IMO Heart died last week, and I think it's a shame it has to change its name and colours. To me it will be a different club because of those two things. Change the name only, and you can see by the AFL Bulldogs example, most fans believe it is still the same club.

I know at least 10. I guarantee you, Manchester City's support among Melburnians would have grown far more rapidly than any EPL club (or any European club, for that matter) over the past five years.
