It's his socks.
art-353-svJWATTS-300x0.jpg

he made 90% of the crows players play with their socks pulled up while he was there too

no chance the man's out of touch...

Craig thought it clever to remember every journos name , and address them individually , and he was right ...
The journos lapped it up as some kind of misguided mark of respect for them after the paintbrushing they usually recieved from Malthouse etc and duely gave Craig the red carpet treatment .
But as the OP suggests , BS and spin has a limited lifespan and Craigs effect on the 3 clubs is there to be seen !!

P.S. Not a fan of the high shorts/socks style either ... definately yesterdays man !!

Are we going to just ignore the fact that Melbourne looked like they were going nowhere under Neeld and Essendon have this whole drugs thing hanging over them. Completely unfair and horrendous call

he's clearly one of the only people in Australia who loves the Adelaide footy club for some reason, needs to go back there, might rub off on one or two of the players

How potently negative is the Neil Craig effect on modern footballers and modern football clubs?

Adelaide plummetted amidst low player enthusism in his final 2 years. Tex Walker basically refused to play.

Melbourne totally flatlined amidst low player enthusiasm under the Neeld/Craig disaster.

Now Essendon are tumbling amidst low player enthusiasm this year compared to last year.

Adelaide and Melbourne enthusiasm returned immediately upon his departure.

He reeks of being 2 generations ago who modern players probably quietly think to themselves "wtf"

lol. Quite the bump.

To further the thesis, this year Craigy was given the task of personally turning Kristian Jaksch around. As Craigy said in a pre-season Club website video showing him(with his Harry Highpant shorts and yanked up socks around his aged arse and legs) driving Jaksch through a drill "i'm gonna train Kristian's brain".......well.....

.....Kristian promptly got on the piss for the next 9 months and didn't play a Senior game.

Who could blame him lol

A little unfair on Craigy. Not his fault Carlton recruiting staff have lower IQ's than their age.

He negotiated a director of Coaching gig at Melbourne.
His job was to guide a young coach in Mark Neeld.
Instead he secretly undermined his coach all the while trying to land Neelds coaching job for himself.

I'm surprised any club would touch him again.

Enter old mate Steven Trigg

If he wasn't mentioned in the Most Overrated person in AFL thread he should've been.

Has an atrocious record at 4 AFL clubs from 2010 onwards yet was still highly respected by the Vic footy media. Partly because he sounded knowledgable and sophisticated and partly because he did constant media; for a time in the late 00s he seemed to be on 3AW's Sports Today every second week.
