He's saying the Iranians sent a strike big enough to hit targets, but instead of going for the stuff they would in a real war - Israel's nuke plant, Tel Aviv's water and electricity etc - they hit stuff at the airbase like the pool to show exactly what they're capable of.

The drones are mostly used to light up and exhaust air defence before the actual missiles go through, if drones get through too yay a win.
