In other news, Hawthorn's arguable starting 22 for 2013 consists of the following:

Gibson
Burgoyne
Guerra
Gunston
Hale
Gilham
Lake

(lack of) culture.

Doubt Gilham will get much of a look-in now.

Hawks have done well out of this- it fills the major hole on the ground for them, and they still manage to have a decent pick. Is notable, though, that pick 27 is now their only pick in the first 59.

They don't have to worry about competing against Hawthorn for a premiership.

They might have just given Hawthorn one though. Boo.

Although you could argue that they lost the GF because of their forwardline, rather than the back.

Why the heck did they give them pick 27 as well... **** me dead

Hope we smash the dogs next year for this.

The Lake trade is a real worry, clears out a chunck of cap space and gives them 4 picks before their activated compo pick which surely they wont be passing on come draft day. Must be a part 2 to this.

i reckon its a win win trade, apparently the hawks are taking in lake's whole salary, which is massive for the dogs if true. Hawks get their key defender, but i question whether lake is really the answer, he loves to run off his man and attack, can he still play a proper shutdown role?

Don't mess with these tough lads

Seriously who thought it would look good for them to pose like this. I want this photographer named and shamed.

After they made this photo their facebook dp's they rode their scooters to the milkbar and pinched a lighter.

Nothing says Bad Mother****** more than being decked out in Melbourne Football Club gear.

Shit just got real at AAMI Park the Melbourne Cricket Ground wherever their base of operations is.

Need to have a go at the Western Bulldogs - Went all year with young tall forwards - slaughter to the lambs - Should have played Lake forward as he would have shielded the young forwards,as he would always get the number one defender - Trade Lake out for peanuts - And he is a contracted player - Tom lee is sitting there waiting to be grabbed - Would help their young forwards - They allow StKilda to grab Lee - I suppose the Bulldogs have a plan.

They've given away pick 27 though, it's an absolute farce. Hawthorn have essentially got Lake for free*.
*And pick 41.

For a guy who's 31 by round 1 next year.
As it stands, Hawks' first 2 picks will be 27 & 61.

A full year older than when we got Mal, and he gave us about one good year. I think Dogs have made out like bandits.

it seems more like a win/win of sorts.... where the hawks are positioned in their 'window' they may only need 1 good year out of him to get their premiership! They may have sold the farm to get it but a flags a flag, its why we are all in this business

Something duplicitous and nasty, I'm sure.

Not buying that they won't be doing anything, especially when you consider that a lack of trade week/draft activity was a component of what saw Ratten crucified.

If we really dig him, and if the depth of the draft is overstated as has been reported, why not downgrade 32?

Because he's shit.

*i know you said if, but its still a point worth making
