Surely Bogut alone would get that trade done without throwing in the #10 pick as well? I do that trade in a second if I'm Minny.

Well no, I don't think Bogut gets it done at all. I wouldn't want this deal done without pick 10.

For salary matching, Minnesota need to send at least three guys back given the type of contracts we have.

So for the sake of the argument the three are Beasley, Flynn and Pekovic. You could substitute either one of Webster or Darko.

On the eve of a new CBA, likely with a hard cap, the Wolves are going to take on a contract worth 39m over the next three seasons. The Bucks are getting the poorer talent back, but they have a grab at Derrick Williams. Pekovic is the only player with guaranteed money on the books beyond 2011-12. Flynn can have his 4th year option declined and Beasley is a free agent.

If Bogut gets badly injured again, his contract is a massive albatross around the neck of whomever has him.

I don't think it is up to them though. Didn't Sota put the trade on the table and it is now in Bucks court?

I hear from MN that the Bucks put it forward. Who knows.

Just heard about Irving wanting to play for the Boomers. Would be awesome to see him team up with Bogut, Mills, Anderson, Maric, Ingles, Worthington and co.

Has this been reported anywhere? Didn't notice a thread about it.

I have to say as a Bucks fan, blowing up the team right now makes a lot of sense. The team has been stuck middle of the road for quite a while and by trading Bogut the Bucks will not only get their hands on a good talent in Williams but will also be almost guaranteed to get an early lottery pick in the super 2012 draft. One problem though is the outrageous multi-year contracts given to Salmons and Gooden. There is also the question of wether a small market team like the Bucks and a coach that usually gets the most out of his team are willing to have a few very poor years.

As a Bogut fan I would be sad to see my favourite player leave my team but I would also be excited to see just how good he could be in a (potentially) good team. Will be interesting to see if anything comes of this rumour as Minny certainly seem keen to trade this pick and enter 'win now' mode.

Don't see that ever happening. Got offered that 2 years ago, and chose US Basketball.

Bucks "must' get a centre in return as part of any deal that will be done....if any

Many teams also chasing Dwight Howard now before he becomes a free agent....Warriors asking for a Monta Ellis trade.

I do believe the question was rhetorical.

Thanks Ben.

As much as I'd like to see Bogut get out of Milwaukee, are the Bucks brass really going to pull the trigger on this trade, therefore admitting that their ridiculous spending during the last off-season on guys like Salmons and Gooden was a major **** up, while leaving the very same guys to lead the team into the next season? It may be the right move for them, but it would mean owning up to their incompetence, which is fairly rare.

The issue here though is a personality clash. Makes things slightly different, in terms of other personnel being involved.

From what I've read, many suitors have inquired about Beasley, but the Wolves are playing hardball.

Also this just makes me laugh....

Jimmer Fredette was a guest on the Dan Patrick Show this morning.
Fredette said the Knicks and the Nets were 1A and 1B on his list of preferred teams.
Patrick asked him which was 1A.
Fredette said the Knicks.

Jimmer be mad if Mr Pringles gets the Chaminda Vaas and jacking a 34 footer isn't a legit play with the new coach.

I can see him being allowed to.

What's the rule for him being allowed to given that he has represented US already? Is it FIBA that have that rule where a player is allowed to play for another country (given he meets the requirements), if it's for the best for promoting that sport in that country?

From the US "Bleacher Report":

"
NBA Trade Rumors: Andrew Bogut Heading to Minnesota Timberwolves?
Clearly concerned about the long-term health outlook of center Andrew Bogut, the Milwaukee Bucks recently initiated some trade talks with the Minnesota Timberwolves for the no. 2 overall pick.
Using the T-Wolves obvious lack of size to their advantage, Milwaukee offered Andrew Bogut and the no. 10 selection in exchange for the no. 2 pick and cap filler, according to ESPN 1500.
It's not a terrible offer for Minnesota, who would be foolish to rely on Darko Milicic for an entire season in the middle, but they can probably do better elsewhere.
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...ns-worst-player-most-embarrassing-moment-more
It doesn't seem like this is a deal that has a lot of traction as we inch closer to draft day, but David Kahn has surprised all of us in the past, so it's tough to rule out anything off the bat.
The T-Wolves would probably like to acquire a more traditional "star" player with the pick as bait (Pau Gasol?), but they've had no success in doing so as of yet.
At this point, it just seems like a matter of when, not if, the T-Wolves pull the trigger on a deal, and while swapping of picks can't be announced until draft night, Minnesota is going to be awfully active long before Thursday."

And there's this article too:

The Milwaukee Bucks and Minnesota Timberwolves are in discussions to swap Andrew Bogut and the No. 10 pick for the No. 2 pick in the 2011 NBA Draft.
According to 1500espn.com, the Bucks are looking to move the Australian center due to health concerns:
Multiple sources say the Wolves and Milwaukee Bucks have talked about a trade, with the main pieces being No. 2 for No. 10 and center Andrew Bogut. It's believed Milwaukee initiated those talks, probably because there is some uncertainty about Bogut's long-term health. He broke his right hand, dislocated his elbow and sprained his wrist in a nasty fall in April 2010 against Phoenix.
Most mock drafts currently have the Bucks selecting Colorado's Alec Burks or Washington State's Klay Thompson with the No. 10 pick.
Arizona's Derrick Williams sits firmly in the No. 2 spot with the Cleveland Cavaliers committed to Kyrie Irving with the first overall pick.
I don't make this trade if I'm Milwaukee. Andrew Bogut had one bad injury and is still recovering, but he's a top-five center when healthy. He averaged a double-double this past season along with 2.6 blocks per game.
With Bogut healthy, the Bucks have the two most important positions (center and point guard) covered with Bogut and Brandon Jennings. They're a scoring forward (Michael Beasley, perhaps?) from being a good, three-deep playoff team.

Inside Hoops are reporting that the Bucks GM John Hammond has stated that trade rumours involving Andrew Bogut are innacurate.

'Bucks general manager John Hammond told me a few minutes ago that trade rumors circulating about center Andrew Bogut are not accurate. "There's no truth to any of these false rumors that have been reported," Hammond said.'

And JuLIAR Gillard "won't be introducing a carbon tax" :)

Well as long as they have Bogut on their side they will be a team destined to challenging for the 8th seed in the eastern conference, A blowup of the team is needed. Thus unloading Bogut not only gives them the #2 pick in this draft, but a higher selection next year in a very good draft.

I think your right here. Start re-building the roster around Jennings and Williams (if the deal goes ahead). I wouldn't think the Bucks would want to re-sign Michael Redd (Unless on a small contract) so that reduces their salary a heap. By taking Williams, it means they are left with 5 PF's (Williams, Illyasova, Gooden, Sanders and Brockman) plus Mbah a Moute who may re-sign. IMO they should try and:
- Trade Gooden. For 2nd round draft pick for example. (If any team would do that). Try and develop Sanders into a solid back-up/third-string PF.
- Trade Maggette - Aging player past his prime plus it will free up salary.
- Accept CDR's qualifying offer and give him another year to develop before making a decision next summer.
- Try and improve depth at SG and SF through free-agency.

Try and get through this season injury-free. Probably wont be overly competitive for a playoff spot, but head into next years draft with a high pick.

Re Bogut,

I can now tell you that he won't be going to Minnesota....they wanted him but the Bucks didn't want to let him go and Andrew doesn't want to go to Minnesota.

Tell him to goto Philly. ;) :thumbsu:

^^ No team is taking on Gooden or Magette's contracts. Its stupid moves like those that the lockout/new CBA are trying to get rid of.

With the likely hard cap, those 2 contracts would severly hamper any team's efforts to get better IMO

Yes it is true, no team wants those burdens. Just ideas though, you'd think they would at least try.
I like the idea, that we most likely will see in the new CBA, of the non-guaranteed contracts. I think it's a good idea that teams can get rid of bad contracts, that may haunt them for years, because of poor player performance/injury etc.

hands up if you're counting down the minutes to the Jizz' first and second pick?

It seems that Brandon Knight is the hot tip to go at 3, which pretty much leaves Jimmer not staying in Utah.

Either way we are sure to see the boo's like last year when Hayward was selected.

Im awaiting the Knicks fans to boo their selection.
