The best seats you can get in the MCC (in my opinion) are N47. Was up the top deck in 2007 (went in on the ballot). Got N47 in 2008 and could have gone N47 in 2009, but decided to go level 'P', due to the weather. What do I do when I get in on Saturday morning?

So who is going to win the Brownlow tonight? Johnno?

not sure if its an omen...but in this finals series

Geelong defeated Hawthorn by 31 pts
Collingwood defeated hawthorn by 3 pts

Geelong Defeteaed West Coast by 48 pts
Collingwood defeated West Coast by 20 pts.

Cats to beat pies by 28?

Haha I like that logic.

Personal Omen - My son has never seen us lose a game in Melbourne ( 6 out of 6 ) , this includes the 07 GF.
Good news is the tickets and air-fares are booked and we are on our way baby !!
So pumped....

Only 2 teams have won a back-to-back flag by defeating a team in the grand final that had already beaten them twice that year

One was Adelaide in 1998 v Nth Melbourne.

The other was Collingwood in 1930 v Geelong.

That's an interesting stat, thanks for sharing.

Worth noting that in the second quarter of the 1998 grand final, North Melbourne kicked 2.11 to 1.3. They ended up losing by 35 points despite having the same number of scoring shots.

Reinforces how important it is that we take advantage of our opportunities on Saturday - as if we didn't already learn that lesson in 2008...

I'm not really sure that I should be contributing to this thread but anywho...
In my 33 years on this planet I have attended five day grand finals and two pre-season grand finals - for zero wins. I missed the 07 and 09 GF wins and the 06 and 09 pre-season cup (Ok, who really cares about pre-season, but you get the picture). You can imagine the emotional turnmoil I wrestled with having received a GF ticket this morning in the ballot.

BUT f*&k it. Until this year I have been scorned by having never seen the Cats beat the hawks or eagles in a final and we have now achieved that. Its a year for me to bury my hoodoos. Flights are booked, ticket accepted and I'll be at the G come Saturday afternoon (albeit very nervously) to achieve the trifecta.

I love the GFC and with the exception of my two beautiful girls being brought into this world (the first in a premiership year ;), this coming Saturday may well be the greatest day of my life:thumbsu:

In 2009 Geelong went 13-0, then dropped a match to a Victorian team at Etihad by a goal, lost the week after interstate, and also in the penultimate week of the season before finishing second on the ladder. It won its qualifying final comfortably and preliminary final easily.

In 2011 Geelong went 13-0, then dropped a match to a Victorian team at Etihad by a goal, lost the week after interstate, and also in the penultimate week of the season before finishing second on the ladder. It won its qualifying final comfortably and preliminary final easily.

Further to that - In 2009 we scored 14 12 96 in our Qualifying final against 3rd. This year it was 14 14 98 again against 3rd. In 2009 we scored 17 18 120 in our Prelim against 4th. This year it was 17 15 117 against 4th. :thumbsu:

Saturday's weather forecast predicts rain and a high of only 16....

...'Partly cloudy. Scattered showers tending more isolated over northwestern suburbs. Local hail possible over southeastern suburbs during the morning. Winds south to southwesterly averaging up to 30 km/h.'

Now that sounds like Kardinia Park weather to me.:thumbsu:

I noted to a mate after the Qualifying Final against Hawthorn that I wasn't going to the Prelim Final.....then he reminded me that as I had gone to the '07 and '09 Prelim Finals, and had NOT attended the '08 and '10 Prelim Finals, that it was my duty to attend.

So I did :D

In 2008 we lost a young player to a season-ending knee injury in the qualifying final.

In 2011 we also lost a young player to a season-ending knee injury in the qualifying final.

Difference is the player in 2008 was a traitorous spud while the player in 2011 is already a loyal star. ;)
