That's to do with aboriginal words. I can't remember what the significance is though. It's something to do with north and south or water.. I think. :$

Off The Couch might know.

It means “place of” that are significant to that area

Maybe it’s where a river is
Where certain foods are found
Where hunting tools are made etc

The places ending with an "up" are near water.
Places ending in "roo" are shitholes.

Karrinyup, Dardanup, Yangebup and Gwelup are the -up's I've heard of while Wanneroo is the only -roo there I've heard of.

I was in Balingup yesterday for their field day when this started - could not see the car in front on the way back, got quite scary tbh and I read they end up with 35mm. Got to forest highway and it was the perfect day.

The thunder was loud this morning, sounded like bombs exploding.

the crack and then rolling thunder for 20 seconds was amazing to listen to

Nothing wrong with Kallaroo. Great spot on the coast sandwiched between Hillarys and Mullaloo. #6025represent

I agree with you on Wanneroo

Why the hell are the shops closed on a public holiday in 2018.
Are they really closed?
