I stay well away from Subi and Nedlands cafes before lunch as a matter of principle because of this.Because they aren’t safe - the runoff from the rains apparently make it a minefield of trash, sand, branches etc.
I was informed of this by some “professionals” that were hogging all the chairs, sipping on their water at the local coffee shop
It's a bit like Adam Bandt talking about high rents and big business monopolising these areas, then him living in Princes Hill in a borderline 2 million dollar house and his offices being at the juncture of ****in Johnston and Brunswick Street in Fitzroy. Was funny a few years back when a Greens senator was found out as having a V8 Landcruiser as a 2nd car. What a hypocrite.

What an absolute crock of shit. I already hate CCTV, it gets sold as making people safer yet it doesn't stop anyone getting bashed or robbed and is quite often fooled just by a person looking down or wearing a hat/hood.
So the greenest leaning electorate/council also wants to be the most Orwellian.

Is the eyre hwy that bad of a drive?
One of the greatest drives on the planet!
Especially if you enjoy diving. It has the most spectacular cave dives that you have to experience to say you’ve lived!
How often is there a stop? I’ve done the train from Adelaide to Perth, and back way back in 2007. That was the worst!
It just feels like it could be so dull other than the beauty of the bite.
I've done the drive many times, whilst in the navy. The defence force had a rort where they would pay you $0.50 a kilometre plus $100 a night with "circa 600km limits per day. Often we had a convoy of guys being posted from one ship to another over the christmas period, stopping a relative's places along the way. A perth to cairns drive was a major boost to tax free income.
On occasions I would drive 24 hours straight from Perth to Adelaide, reading a book whilst cruising at 160km/hr. Those days are probably over with speed limits now enforced. On others, we would stop and enjoy what our great land had to offer.
The longest drive between towns is 400km and one area where there is only one stop for 800km.
My recommendation would be to go with one or two others and plan a few activities along the way. The bight is special and offers great camping opportunities and a fresh dip. The cave diving is incredible but you need to abseil into them and requires a little planning and common sense to safety. The best/ worst of the actual Nullarbor is north of the road which in itself is worth the turn off.
I would recommend experiencing it.
Power Raid do tell more! I'm doing the trip in October starting from Melbourne!
even better, the stops between melbourne and adelaide are picturesque
but just focusing on the Nullarbor
- denial bay and ceduna is all about the water. Quaint towns (code for shitty) on spectacular water. You used to be able to get fresh seafood from the producers.......I'm sure you still can
- maralinga is a fair way north off the main road but it is pretty amazing to go to a place where they dropped atomic bombs. I'm fascinated by ww2 and the bumbling of the cold war. For me it says alot about how out of control governments can get when they think dropping atomic bombs on your own country is reasonable action. mind you when you're there, you'll appreciate its perfect for an atomic bomb testing site.
- the Nullarbor roadhouse will keep you entertained for 60 seconds
- the infamous gold course. it's so shit you have to do it.
- the wild life is incredible. loads of everything but it does depend on the season and how tough the recent seasons have been.
- whale watching from the head of the blight
- the cliff along the bight near the eucla basin. by way of background australia is dipping in the north and lifting in the south as we slide under indonesia. many of the once amazing river systems still exist but now do so underground. this is fabulous from an exploration perspective but also an environmental. the reason why great white sharks and killer whales breed off the bight is due to these systems.
- Esperance and Cape Le Grand National Park
- the eucla sand dunes are super impressive.
- and definitely go cave diving
Pay to park at that shithole? lmao.https://www.perthnow.com.au/news/wa...velopment-at-westfield-carousel-ng-b88902138z
Carousel to bring in paid parking, if you stay over 3 hours you now will have to pay.
Might have a little impact on Hoyts there for anyone that liked to go for a movie and then got food or went shopping after.

pretty sure shopping centres here give you an extra hour if you get your ticket validated at the cinema to account for thishttps://www.perthnow.com.au/news/wa...velopment-at-westfield-carousel-ng-b88902138z

I'll give the golf a miss, I'd like to make the trip as quick as possible, might do the touristy version on the way back.
Get tired around the 8 hours of driving, will push for 10-12 hours. Not sure if I'll sleep in the car or get accommodation.
Your information has been great, thanks
rough it and stay in the car. the accommodation has probably changed since I last did the drive but it wasn't inviting back then. many of the truck stops have shower facilities.
