Anyone over the PICA bar situation?

So been renting the lease month by month asking for a 10 year lease to be offered for the last 4 years. As they have built the bar up from the ground where nobody wanted it to a pretty good spot. Again, they've wanted the lease for years to kind of revamp the space but the government has never entertained the idea

Suddenly went "up for tender" and told basically it was up for tender and they had been given 2 months to come up with a complete and comprehensive business plan. And two "Groups" were able to submit plans pretty much 3 days after the tender has been put up on what they could do with the space

Absolutely stinks

Wait what? So they're telling PICA to come up with a business plan? Isn't their business plan just selling drinks at an okay price in the middle of the city, with not many dicks around, catering to an afterwork/quick vino crowd?

Bit of a shame they'll kick them out for some new bar but these things never go to plan. PICA will do their thing somewhere else and succeed – after all, arts people (especially in a smaller city like Perth) are very cliquey and are going to follow them wherever they go. This new bar will re-fit out the inside, take away its simplicity, sell bad steaks for 35 bucks, and either be some craft joint or have Lion Nathan taps. Either way it'll be expensive and it'll flop.

Shame because PICA is a decent little venue. Had a few nice afternoons there, very nostalgic. Think it's $19 for a round of Coopers pale and a g&t. Not terrible. And because of the seating arrangement all you get is shade and all you see is trees.

anyone else here feel the earthquake tremor at a little bit past 5am? was in bed and thought I was going crazy, felt like somebody was standing at the foot of the bed and rocking it. Jumped on twitter and turns out it was an earthquake around lake muir.
