So my cousins kid is turning one this Sunday, and I'm looking for a gift.

What should I get? I feel like cuddly toys would be overdone and they'd have a ton of it.

What about a book? Do kids get read to at the age of 1?

Too young for a book.

Just dont get anything noisy or you will piss the parents off

Get them "Oh the Places You Will Go" by Dr. Seuss. It's my go-to 1 year old bday present. It's a great book and they'll keep it forever.

I had to do this recently, and ended up at Targe boutique buying a plastic monkey which rolls, and lights up, it was a big success with the child I might add, and her father who should probably know better. A book is usually my go to gift, but for a one year old the choice is pretty limited, unless you want to pony up some decent money for a nice hard back book of fairy tales, or a nice edition of a classic.

Yeah, a classic book or even something to help build dexterity (building block set etc). Bath toys are good too. I remember one of our boys got one of those nylon tunnels that fold up. They had fun with that. Ikea sell them.

But, yeah, they'll probably prefer just playing with a balloon or something.

Anybody know what the Asians (pretty sure Chinese) do at Fitzroy Gardens, the Landsdowne St side, opposite Treasury Gardens, towards Wellington Pde? They are there every day, and have a massive banner thing that says FALUN DAFA and some Chinese writing, which I assume says the same thing. They have a table with brochures, there are usually 4 or 5of them. And sometimes they do what looks to be Tai Chi. I figure they're like a Chinese information centre kinda thing but I have no way of knowing.

TheFreshBanana or peternorth can you shed any light?

Yeah I wouldn't have much idea, but that seems right.

I've gone past fitzroy gardens a few times in the morning and have seen the same thing.

Has anyone ever worked at the MCG or Etihad as a casual? What is the pay rate like?

Anyone here use a fitbit? Wifes Birthday tomorrow and she wants one. Whats a good one?
Fitbit Charge HR, I think is what it's called.

Be careful of doing the dishes with them... I have a feeling that's how mine broke.
