I just looked at the latest rsl prize home and the 3 bedroom apartment comes with 130k of furniture and appliances. That would be high end so take 30% off but then add on clothing allowance for 5 people and maybe the 125k amount is about right.
My sick step daughter-when less sick- said she will do the inventory and come up with a list/cost.

Probably. Good luck, hopefully you dont.
Funny how the powers that be dont give two ****s about covid anymore isn't it?
Working on their next big blow up pain in the arse situation to foist on us.

That's about all I have in my house. Actually I only have one tv and one couch. The rest of my furniture is second hand. Nice second hand stuff but still second hand.

What do you have that's worth 100k?
All my clothes, my wife's clothes, daughter's clothes, toys, items, carpet, flooring, fixtures and fittings, other furniture. It adds up very quickly.

And I would much rather be over insured than under.

Clothes? Fridge? Oven? Laptop? Washing machine? Carpet? Curtains and blinds?

Thus would be my household contents:

Living room:
couch $2000
TV -$1000
Piano '$3000
Books - $5000

Kitchen:
Fridge '$1500
Oven -$1000

Bedroom:
Clothes -$1000

The rest of my furniture is second hand that I got for next to nothing. I have polished floorboards and my mum made my curtains.

How do you feel about USB-c cables. functional and versatile?

So you're already up to almost $14k without insuring everything

You should check what your policy says about under insuring. They'll use that to stichb you up if they can

Who said that I was only insured for that?

I think we all think you did here.

I was talking about the value of what is in my house. I don't really how much my contents insurance is. I took my insurance out ten years ago and haven't really looked at it since. It's definitely nowhere near 100k though. I only have insurance because my mortgage requires I have it. I have a pretty average house on prime land. If something happened to my house the value of the land would be worth just as much as with the house on it.

Talking in riddles now Rask.

We were talking about contents insurance, you say yours is about $10,000 at most and then go on to say you don't know how much your contents is?

OMG. I was talking about what the value of my contents is. Not how much it's insured for.

Fair enough.

But what about things like your bed(s), mattresses etc?

Most of my furniture is second hand stuff. I have a friend that deals in second hand furniture so he's got me some good quality stuff for cheap. My mattress is about ten years old. It cost me a couple of grand when I bought it but wouldn't be worth much now.
