you can get a GP referral for I believe 10 subsidized sessions but then you have to find someone that can take you on as a patient, you will still be out of pocket a lot of money most likely and you will have to be able to do the sessions during business hours mostlyis there an affordable way to see a psychologist?
I think the only way I've seen to get referred via GP is to basically say I'm considering ending it, but that's not truth.
It seems to me like it's hard to get someone 'to talk to' without having to drop $200+/ph
there is also the option if you are willing and can find one of seeing a provisional psychologist, once you have completed all your studies you need to work for 4-5 years and get enough patient hours to get registered as a psychologist
some places will have the option for seeing a provisional psychologist, you don't need the GP referral for that generally and you might be paying $60 for a session instead of $200+ for example, not sure what rates are like in 2024
