The rain

Sooo, what happened to this so called El Nino the weather nuffies have been warning us about for months with all of their doom and gloom predictions?
El Niño is a weather pattern / climate driver, we’re still in it but it doesn’t mean that it won’t rain or we won’t have dramatic events. Last month was the driest on record for some parts. What wasn’t predicted was one of the other climate drivers to disappear so early which will probably cause the El Niño to end early because more moisture will come in through the northern part of the continent. The other issue climate is dealing with is the tongs volcanic explosion which sent steam into many layers of our atmosphere. The affects of this will occur until the end of the decade.

What wasn’t predicted
Predictions aren’t reliable, even day to day. They can be listened to, and minor precautions taken, but there’s too much whipping up of fear by risk-averse authorities. Modelling always predicts the most extreme outcomes so that we feel lucky if they don’t happen 🙄

But that's not how they present it, is it? Which parts was it the driest on record last month?

You’re missing the point, El Niño is generally associated is with hot and drier conditions which it had been until the last week. Back to 35 degrees for SA next week. I’m actually not a big believer in climate change I think things just happen in cycles, as it happened for the last billion years but I do believe in climate drivers like the positive and negative iod and El Niño because there is science behind them and the type of weather that is generally produced when they occur

Don't get me wrong, I believe in Climate Change in the sense that our Climate has always naturally changed and gone through cycles, like you say. I also believe in the climate drivers you have mentioned. I do find it disappointing that not much is said about the affect the Tonga eruption is having on our weather but of course, that wouldn't fit their Climate Change narrative.

This is the problem with media, deniers etc, they choose the stuff that fits their narrative.i follow a guy who predicts weather based on planetary alignment and it is eerily accurate.

Yes, I agree with that. There are a lot of factors involved, including the activity of the sun.

Stopped for now with a promise of more to come

The aching in my back and me knee suggests it’s not going to stay dry for long.

I don't think it's that shocking tbh tho. I legit remember some awful rainy xmases and also going away the week after Xmas and not once being able to swim in the ocean, cause that's how s**t the weather was
Yeah, same.

I'm just having a moan because I was hoping to play outside today.

I remember a Xmas night BBQ at the ex-in-laws being rugged up in trakkies and hoodie standing the the carport by myself eating a sausage in bread. Everyone else had retreated indoors it was so cold and rainy
